⌘W on the last window of an app in iPadOS 16 actually seems to quit the app, regardless of whether you've got Stage Manager enabled (or if it's even supported on that iPad). Still can't direct typing into the right app regularly — so plenty of room for improvement on the basics.

More generally, the Apple Watch Ultra was undoubtedly expensive but has been a *very* helpful aid for my hearing-impaired father. The watch speaker/mic are good enough he’s able to carry on a phone call, versus his usual struggle with “my MFi hearing aids aren’t connected yet”.

Definitely the latter. First all Command/Globe shortcuts stopped working, then I literally could not bring up a keyboard (software or hardware), just got brief flashing in the keyboard area until I rebooted. This is RELEASED software, folks.

@thaddeus Yeah, I think it’s probably going to happen. Apple Health can already ingest quite a lot of common FHIR data and DICOM seems like a pretty sensible next step (unless it gets replaced with something else).

@thaddeus (Not a radiologist, but…) DICOM is a container format; image codecs can vary. Some systems will at least let you launch a web-based viewer as a patient. Where I work, we’re in the process of making NilRead available to our patients as it already is to us. https://t.co/IOkI9KGOva

@hboon It’s certainly as fast as my old phone was without a mask, estimate 0.1 to 0.2 seconds. I tried in vain to record this, but it seems screen recording turns off when the iPhone locks.

@hboon No idea why it is slow for you though, it’s pretty speedy for me on my 14 Pro. My previous iPhone XS did not have this feature at all.

@hboon Not entirely. Watch unlock doesn’t work in a lot of apps. I’ve found this a massive improvement for me at work where removing a mask is basically not an option much of the time.

@thaddeus My first few years of college they only had LocalTalk in the dorms. Most students had Macs but some had PCs with LocalTalk cards. Was a weird time.
