@LaindonFEMINIST He knew exactly what he said would cause havoc.
And, perhaps more importantly, detract from the questions about his donations, gifts & houses.
It won't of course. Not letting it go. ๐
@kejca Buffett sounds amazed at how good things are, yet has absolutely no idea how good they should be.
Productivity rose 178% since 1971. If those gains had reached consumers the way they reached your phone, life for everyone would have improved twenty times more than it did.
Warren Buffett: "The bottom 2% in terms of income in the United States, the bottom 5%, and for sure the top 1% all live better than John D. Rockefeller was living when I was six years old."
"John D. Rockefeller was the richest man in the world and, today, you can get better medicine, better education, better entertainment, better transportation. You can do everything better than he could."
"When I was born, the dentist didn't use novocaine!"
The billionaire Media constantly attacks pensions, benefits and Public Services because they get nothing from them and they want them destroyed.
Meanwhile the tax dodging and profiteering of the greedy billionaires goes ignored.
Because they are not going to blame themselves.
Had to work until she was 68, never saw a cent from her invention.
None of the billionaires are inventors they are all the crooks that stole from the inventors.
What will you do when you have taxed all the rich people and they have nothing.
They always demand.
What will we do when Energy, Food, Housing, Healthcare, Banking...
Is all cheap?
Because the only reason it is expensive is to pay them.
FIFA is selling MOST of the tickets for its failed World Cup at 1/5th or less of the advertised price.
They are doing it through secondary resellers to avoid having to repay the 20% of fools who have paid their outrageous original ripoff prices.
Israel bombed a Roman Fort in Lebanon, over 2000 years old, one of the finest examples of Roman Architecture left on the planet, stood isolated on a hill.
But Israel bombed it anyway.
They are terrorists, and they destroy everything.
Reform UK claims 268,000 members. Each pays ยฃ25 a year. That's potentially ยฃ6.7m in annual subscription income. Before you pay, there's something you should know about what you're actually buying.
Reform UK is not a traditional political party in any constitutional sense. It is a private limited company. Two private limited companies, in fact, nested inside each other.
Understanding the structure matters because it determines who controls the party, who benefits from your money, and what rights you have as a paying member.
The main vehicle is Reform 2025 Ltd, company number 11694875, incorporated in 2018. It is a company limited by guarantee, meaning instead of shareholders, it has guarantors who effectively own and control it. The two guarantors are Nigel Farage and Zia Yusuf. They are also the sole directors.
Sitting above Reform 2025 Ltd is a second company, Reform UK Party Limited, incorporated 18 February 2025, company number 16260766. This is listed as the Person of Significant Control of Reform 2025 Ltd. It controls the main party vehicle. Reform UK Party Limited itself claims it has no Person of Significant Control. Nobody formally owns the company that owns the party.
In a traditional political party, Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens, membership means something. Members vote on policy. Members elect the leadership. Members have constitutional rights enshrined in a rulebook. The party is an unincorporated association collectively owned by its members.
Reform's structure is fundamentally different. When you pay ยฃ25 to join Reform, you are not becoming a member of a democratic organisation. You are subscribing to a private limited company. Your ยฃ25 buys you no vote on policy. No vote on the leadership. No right to stand for internal office. No constitutional protection if the leadership decides to change direction overnight.
In February 2024 Farage announced he was handing over control of Reform. A new constitution was published. But the Companies House filings tell a different story. Under that constitution, Farage retained the power to appoint the majority of Reform's executive committee. The governance reform was announced publicly. The control was never actually transferred.
Farage is the sole person with the power to select candidates for elections. There is no primary system, no member ballot, no democratic selection process. The candidate in your constituency is whoever Farage decides it will be.
The 268,000 members have no formal mechanism to challenge or change that.
This matters in Makerfield specifically. Robert Kenyon was selected as Reform's by-election candidate. His record, the comments about women, the electoral roll discrepancy, the Manchester Arena post, all of it emerged after his selection. Under a traditional party membership structure, members would have a mechanism to raise concerns, call for a review, or trigger a recall. Under Reform's structure, there is no such mechanism. The leader selects. The membership subscribes.
Reform claims to be the voice of ordinary people against an out of touch establishment. But its own internal structure concentrates absolute power in two individuals at the top of a private limited company, with no democratic accountability to the people paying ยฃ25 a year for the privilege of calling themselves members.
Labour members elect their leader. Conservative members elect their leader. Liberal Democrat members elect their leader. Green members vote on policy. Reform members elect nobody and vote on nothing.
268,000 subscribers. ยฃ6.7m. Zero democratic rights.
That is what Reform membership actually is. The receipts are on Companies House. They always are.
