Current #soil temp this morning in Sac Co in worked corn stalks. Dry soil will have larger swings in temps than damp soils because it takes less energy to change the temperature of air than water. Could see some wild numbers this week.
I didn’t have much faith that this rye #covercrop would come up thanks to #drought20. I was pleasantly surprised to find this today!! This will feed a lot of cows next spring!
Elevated fire weather conditions are forecast across much of central to western portions of Iowa tomorrow afternoon due to the breezy southwest winds, low relative humidity and fuels (such as grasslands and crops) becoming cured. #iawx#FireWeather
After a discussion with a curious customer we decided to sort pods based on if they were aborting #soybeans in due to #drought20. 31% of the pods had aborted one or more. Now to find out what’s normal 🤔 #scout20
#Corn stalks are going to have a rough year. Had just a bit of a gusty day on Monday with that cold front and this is what I’m finding. #physoderma and some anthracnose. @corndisease

What a view! Scouting some beautiful fields near Ponca, NE. I am happy I’m not the one driving the combine or grain cart in these hills though! #scout20#hillfarm#nebraska
Corn reaching full dent in East Sac / west Calhoun co IA. Finding more ear & kernel rots as well. Some penicillium here. Management is not usually needed but if it gets bad it should be tested for #mycotoxins such as ochratoxin. #corn#scout20@corndisease
More storm damage in Northern Carroll Co where #derecho2020 first picked up steam. Important PSA on scouting hail damaged corn - SAFETY GLASSES people!!!
