Top picture=physical distancing. Bottom picture is the REALITY of class sizes in a high school in Nova Scotia. They will have to wear masks all day and my room is HOT even with the windows open. Also 135+/- students will share this space. #SafeSeptemberNS#readynotready#nspoli
@zachchurchill these teachers are giving up time with their families to make sure our children are as safe as they can make it because YOU are NOT! Will you take Labour day and help these teachers chip paint off windows and clean surfaces? #SafeSeptemberNS#reallyreadynotready
Students rely on this space for movement breaks for inclusive education supports. This photo taken Friday after school. Students arrive in 0 business days. #SafeSeptemberNS#readynotready#nsed https://t.co/bvgiQCQ5ZI
Storing orphaned furniture, this classroom is supposed to support resource students with mild to moderate inclusive education needs. They arrive Tuesday morning. Photo from Friday after school. #SafeSeptemberNS… https://t.co/WMUSSCXi0l
@taxed2deathinNS@HRCE_NS Calm down! Just an FYI, the majority of teachers ARE working today (at home instead of at school) doing the following: researching, planning, marking, learning etc... Personally, I am planning engaging lessons for my students.
Let's not go down this road NS, where teachers are also leaving. Invest in the ones we have (and our students) and more will want to join the profession. @NSTeachersUnion@ESJNovaScotia @NSP4PublicED
So @AndrewScheer dropped the idea of tax breaks for private school parents - it was a very bad idea. Investing in equity and excellence in @nsedmatters is what's needed. @ESJNovaScotia
So @zachchurchill there’s a new funding formula for education. It’s based on needs, but also made cuts based on enrolment. It was mentioned last year, but had no input from stakeholders. We’re already using it, but have to wait for the fall to have it explained. I have questions.
Given that Minister Churchill says the RCEs and CSAP have made recent staffing decisions based on this new formula. We are asking government to release full details of the formula today so parents have a chance to see it.

"Rather than accept a recommendation from a consultant from Ontario who knows very little about the public education system in Nova Scotia, the minister should engage our own parents and teachers." - Karen Casey, Liberal Deputy Premier, June 9, 2011

The @NSTeachersUnion is voicing the truth about the assignments teachers received next year. Knowing our students are losing vital contact time with guidance counsellors, early literacy support etc. is devastating. We have no reason to lie #stepup4students#nspoli@withwozney
Having denied real education cuts for weeks, late on a Friday afternoon, through the media, the McNeil govt announces a new funding formula for public education. Seems like damage control, doesn't it?

Maybe @StephenMcNeil doesn't understand. Ex. Some teachers who were full time guidance at a junior high were told now they will be shared at different schools. Yes the person was not cut but the school lost support time. From 100% to 70%. Some from 50% to 20 etc. So cuts.#nspoli
Contrary to the email HRCE just sent out, funding and staffing for O2 has been cut at many high schools. These specific details should be disclosed to the parents of the students affected, not glossed over with vague talking points. #nspoli#nsed
