Got a homeless guy a hotel last night and just had the police come to my flat because he robbed the TV from the room and now Iβve gotta pay for it ππππ
what a way to end this year at sae, met such incredible people who I can now call friends and awesome lecturers who have taught me so much about game designs and the fundamentals on it. really glad I chose to do games design as a career. looking forward to next year!
finally finished my modular set in @UnrealEngine. added in post processing volumes around some areas. first time using it this technique and was a great learning process to do.
ahh, the trimester is nearly over. :( even though its been the hardest trimester of my life, it's been such a great experience learning new things. however, I still have assessments to complete by Thursday for exhibition. looking forward to ending the trimester.
modular set is going well! added in all my props and started to fill up rooms to make it less empty. really liking the design of it all, now I need to add in some post processing to make it extra exciting and natural.
modular set is pretty much done now in unreal, created hallways and rooms to explore. the only thing left is to add in my prop assets into the scene then build it for the final. :)
here is a look at my final models in unreal engine. all textures are hand painted, and some do look obvious that it is. also materials are baked with the different maps. happy with the results as this is the first time doing this. now to finish off the final scene.
doing my textures for the modular sets and I find this process really fun to do! painting your own models is a great way to learn how to do them yourself instead of sourcing your images. I'm really enjoying this stage of painting my models. can't wait for final.
ah this week has been a bit stressful with all the amount of work. still manage to power through all of it, and now I'm back on track to get everything completed by next week. #unilife
first look at the upcoming dating sim game for the prototype. looking good with the anime theme. going to be using articy to help me with the dialogue choices and implement it into unity. should be a fun process learning how articy works.
worked on part of the last prototype today, pretty much got the main mechanics down for the game with the whole dialog element. still need to fix in adding multiple dialog choices for players to pick. also need to start on my audio and foley for the prototype. should be fun.
finally able to play a bit of Watch_Dogs 2 which I bought a while back. the game is quite the improvement from the first Watch Dog game. characters are well designed, the environment of San Francisco is stunning and hacking is fun. can't wait to finish the game.
started to wrap my UV's for the modular sets. definitely not all the same scale, will have to fix that sometime this week and start painting my textures after I finish it.
everything seems to be good with the second phase of the modular sets. everything is within the tri allocation, except the door (which will be fixed). they line up with each other well with the correct measurements. also started to create some props to add for the final scene.
really happy with the current prototype, heavily narrative based. was quite hard to get a start on it in the beginning as it was on Unity. however, still managed to get the main concepts completed for it. just need to tweak a few more things for a full completion.
the 3rd prototype is going well so far, finished most of the narrative writing for the game. now just need to start finishing off each scene to get it done by this week. should be an interesting week.
here is a first look at my modular sets for phase two. definitely using the skills that I have learnt from the first phase. just have to get the tri counts down to the allocated limit and making sure they all line up to make a hallway/room.
my sprite sheets are going really well at the moment. created a couple of characters as well as tiled textures. really happy with what I was able to come up with considering I am not the best art designer. π
learned Unity analytics today, seems quite easy to get testing results with that feature. still scared about using it as I am not comfortable with Unity. hopefully I should be able to cope with it for the next prototype.
