@SaraBCmtl @UrsulaV This is me too! WGTDB was my gateway, then clockwork boys and paladins. I bought A House with Good Bones because I found it at an airport, but it’s still in my TBR pile because … horror …
@DrSueMoss Saw one of these (giant stinging tree) on a bushwalk in the New England region of NSW in a National Park (not rainforest) near Hillgrove. We were warned not to go near it and told of the unaware who used it’s nicely shaped leaves as toilet paper 😱
@Kizzia30 Yes. I don’t remember it from my childhood, but my kids had mufti days at primary and secondary school in Australia
- they were born between 1988 and 1996
@Phokion1@EdMcDonaldTFK@DunnettCentral I second this! I’m currently rereading it via audiobook and learning the correct pronunciation of some of the names (e.g. Eachmarcach)! Focus is on Scotland, but with interactions with the Cnut & the Danes, Irish, Mercians, Wessex, and others from southern England
@UrsulaV Alive! Went away to march in an Autumn Parade as an 8th century Saxon and, although I’m sad the story finished without me, I’m ecstatic that we survived! These are so much fun! Thank you, Ursula!
About six months ago, I ran a weird little Choose Your Own Adventure using the Twitter poll buttons. Alas, Elon has decided those will only be available for blue checks, starting April 15th.
So hey, how about one last hurrah?
@nicolaz Thank you! That’s very helpful. Being Australian, I find I have to factor in accent as well, especially variations between US and UK accents. So, I’ve been deep-diving into pronunciation recordings! Fascinating to hear the variations. Not useful that AUD also = Australian $
Finally, after several years of searching and failed attempts at purchasing, I now have all 3 Aud Torvingen books by @nicolaz Currently rereading The Blue Place and a question arises: is Aud pronounced Awd as in Maud, Owd as in cloud, or Ahd as in hard?
