As a long-standing GP and GPC member, it is deeply saddening that we have reached this point.
For years, many of us warned that successive governments were systematically undermining traditional general practice through chronic underfunding, rising workload & workforce attrition.
Partnerships were destabilised, continuity devalued, and independent contractor status treated as an inconvenience rather than the foundation of community-based NHS care.
Now colleagues are being balloted on a “Plan B” including private provision. This is not ideology — it is what happens when a profession is pushed beyond sustainability.
This @UKLabour Government ignored repeated warnings. Patients and practices are now paying the price. #GP #GeneralPractice #NHS @BMA_GP
Fab day at the Practice Managers Conference with @StaffsTH today.
With valuable insights on ARRS developments, CQC expectations, HR updates, NHS pensions, AI in Primary Care, and practical strategies for resilience & workforce wellbeing, it was thoroughly inspiring!

What a stupid idea? GP partnership model is the main reason that sustained General Practice in UK.
HSJ readers should remember that there is £1.1bn deficit Trusts accrued in 23/24 compared with £0 of GP practices across UK who are still running as successful independent businesses.

We dont need another Fuller report with outcomes which we already know, we need actions and proper resourcing.
On your watch, GP’s are doing collective actions to protect General Practice. That’s your legacy.
We don’t want another Fuller Report.
We want actions to resource General Practice by ‘Restoring the Core’ so that we can serve our patients with better outcomes.
The way to stop collective actions is by investing in General Practice now.
7% of NHS budget is spent on General Practice where 90% patient contacts happen.

Why the offer of employing GP through ARRS as per this spec is a bad idea-
1. Age Discrimination
2. £92,462 is reimbursement for the salary (£73,114) and on costs. That’s £8200/session which was going rate 20 years ago
3. Not new money
4. ?Emergency for 2024-25 only
5. 1 GP per 50K population on PCN footprint is not going to work
6. No mentoring or career progression roles
7. Push forward agenda of fully salaried model.
Great result with 98.3% of members voting Yes for collective actions. @NStaffsLMC will meet today to discuss and confirm to practices the actions that will be recommended to start asap. To assure patients, we will do actions that does not affect direct patient care. I hope @wesstreeting will listen to @BMA_GP and ‘Restore the Core’ to stop the collective actions by practices.@Sotlive@BBCRadioStoke
Really Good Attendance from Northstaffs Practices organised by NorthStaffs LMC. Practices are behind GPCE and we ready to take action #collectiveaction
