In places where people can still lawfully carry, a staged kidnapping like this would be far more dangerous for the actors — because someone might actually intervene. That risk itself is a form of protection. Armed, responsible citizens change the equation for anyone who would try to harm others in public.
The lack of reaction in this video is what you get when that right has been stripped away. People become spectators. The community loses its ability to respond in the moment.
Social experiments like this only “work” in disarmed societies. That’s not something to celebrate. It’s a warning.
