I witnessed a nasty scene at one secondary school around Kampala. I had gone for a VD where I witnessed two men colliding over a daughter. A S.6, who was about to sit for her final UNEB exams, was the center of their dispute. One of the men had raised the girl for 19 years, and had come to wish her daughter success in the forth coming exams and also last VD in secondary school.
Accompanied by his wife and another young son, they reached the school and encountered a visitors book at the gate. The gatekeeper brought the book to every car driver to sign before granting entry into the school premises.
As the Dad looked in the visitors book, the father noticed that someone had already signed it to visit his daughter. At first, he suspected it might be her boyfriend. However, as he approached a tree shade in the compound where parents and their children were seated, he saw his daughter sitting with another man. The man appeared to be old enough to be her father, leading the father to imagine that his daughter might have a sugar daddy.
Unable to contain his curiosity and concern, he approached them. The daughter, overjoyed to see her parents, jumped up and hugged them. However, the father's questions began pouring out. He interrogated the man, demanding to know who he was and what he was doing with his daughter.
The man, not waiting for further questions, responded by telling the father to ask his wife. According to him, the wife knew exactly who he was and that he was the real father of the girl. Angered and bewildered, the father grabbed the man, and a fight ensued. The commotion attracted the attention of other parents who were attending the VD, and they rushed to separate the two men.
The school authorities intervened, and the matter ended up in court. Surprisingly, the DNA test revealed that neither of the two men was the girl's biological father. The incident left the whole community of parents in shock and disbelief.
#UnpopularOpinion #765. How to sort out the paternity burden. Consider all your children adopted until they themselves prove that they actually are yours. You will have avoided mental health challenges of you trying to prove that they are indeed yours.
