Today we’re lifting stone onto the Old Man.Due to the steepness of the path, we’re advising walkers there could be delays on the path between the summit and Low Water. Marshalls are on hand to keep everyone safe and let you know what’s happening! @fixthefells
Great to have Skyhook helicopters with us to get our stone moved in Kentmere. Tomorrow the plan is to lift stone onto Coniston Old Man, as such there could be long delays for walkers on the main path. As always we’ll be on hand to marshall! @fixthefells
Beautiful but cold day to be up on the fells. Today we were filling some bags high up Tongue Ghyll and then sorting our shed above Grisedale Tarn. Nearly there for our heli lifts next week!
More bag filling for the team today. These will be flown up onto our project near the summit of the Old Man in April ready for us to work on over the summer. @fixthefells @NTsouthlakes
Hands up who spotted Sarah and Rowan on @BBCTheOneShow with @OwainWynEvans. We were taking about how Rangers find working outdoors in all weathers...we enjoy it, even the rain! @NTNorthLakes @NT_TheNorth
Ever wondered how we build a water-bar? Take a look at this to find out! On the day we did this it even helpfully rained so we could see that water was draining at the end of the day. @fixthefells@LakesRangers
This section of path was a bit of a head scratcher. With a deep gully and bedrock to contend with it gave us plenty to thing about. We needed to stabilise the sides and ensure no more material was lost. We’re pretty pleased how it’s worked out! @fixthefells
Coming at you out the telebox tonight on @BBCCountryfile at 5:45 and then if you’re lucky possibly again at 9pm on More4! Looking forward (and a little nervous!) to seeing how both of these programs turn out......
Celebrating 50 years of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue this week. These peaks are special to so many and it was amazing to see them lit like this, if you were one of the lucky ones who saw it too we hoped you enjoyed the show! Image by John Shedwick.
In putting in a combination of pitching, stepping stones and drainage, we’ve stabilised the path line, reduced the erosion and as such minimised material being lost into water courses. All in all a good job done! @fixthefells
It’s been a while since we’ve posted some before and afters, so here’s some of our most recently completed work on Dovedale. This was a really tricky section that presented us with many challenges, least of all the large quantities of water! @nattrustjobs @NT_TheNorth
