Did you know? The first outdoor community fridge in Ottawa is located in #WellingtonWest! The community fridge, The Road Runner is there thanks to the team at @ParkdaleFood and their partners! Donated by @HintonburgCA, it runs on a "take what you need, leave what you can" motto.
@mouskoi@EDSCinfoESDC Merci à vous! Ce fut un honneur de participer à cette discussion à l’occasion de la Journée internationale des femmes. On avait tellement de sujets intéressants et histoires inspirantes partagé par nos ministres!
@EDSCinfoESDC Thank you! It was a privilege to be a part of this International Women’s Day discussion. We had so many great questions, and inspiring stories from our Ministers!

Orange Shirt Day — a National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
Thinking of my dad today. Did the little boy sitting alone in St Mary’s Indian Residential School all those years ago ever think we would see a day like today?
Today is National Day for #TruthandReconciliation. #GC buildings will be illuminated with orange light in memory of the Indigenous children who did not return from residential schools & to honour the Survivors, their families, & their communities: https://t.co/lkTEhvPUCk

The impact of colonialism is even engrained in our language.
Mntu is the Mi’kmaw word for ‘devil’
I have memories of being foolish in friends’ homes and having elders yell ‘jikla’sin mntu!’ (GTFO, devil)
Miawpukek is the name of my community, it means The Middle Tidal River.
When the community finally got recognition, the elders were asked what we should call the community, officially 1/2
Hey Twitter,
Today I will be sharing Mi’kmaw stories, language lessons, and photographs. I hope to demonstrate our vibrant history in NL, and also celebrate Indigenous resilience.
Hopefully folks find it interesting, and learn a few new things.
Many non-Indigenous people will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day for the first time this year.
