People forget that there were ~60,000 Mamdani-Trump in the NYC mayor election. These people can be won over with a popular message like being anti data-centers instead of catering to the Cheneys
@ThatRedCatholic@PollTracker2024 She should've probably said something like "it's important that we take care of everybody and that includes trans people" but outright changing the topic because she can't change his mind isn't terrible either
#WisconsinGovernor
NYT: Marissa Johnson, an independent who is currently undecided on who to support in the governors race, said opposition to data centers was so strong in Wisconsin that she’s heard Democrats and Republicans talking about voting for Francesca Hong.
@kingofnaboo@ThatRedCatholic@PollTracker2024 the way I see it is "you're not gonna agree with me on this issue so let's talk on the common ground we have" rather than capitulating and ceding ground but you're probably correct some leftists would probably object to that aswell
How did Francesca Hong get a Trump voter’s support?
She didn’t throw trans people or immigrants under the bus. Instead, she proposed a policy that values his quality of life over the profits of faceless out-of-state billionaires.
@DougJonesMafia Yeah I'm aware of that, that's not her supporting abolition of prisons, she's talking about a perfect world, have you heard her talk about this?
@Darkness476@DCCyclone Kat Abu wasn't from the district and didn't have grassroots support, Hong is very in touch with her state's important issues and has the policies yo solve and she does have grassroots support, it's a totally different case.
#WisconsinGovernor
NYT: Jeff Hanneman, a Republican who voted for President Trump, decided to cast his vote in the governor’s race for Francesca Hong in part because she wants to pause data center construction.
@liberalboomer2@PollTracker2024 Better than having half of my posts be about Haley Stevens, but thanks for sharing this gem to a wider audience, appreciate it.
