The broad shift in recognition about light & health (not just circadian) is starting…
@RogerSeheult Glen Jeffery & others (!) deserve credit for pushing the message w/grace & tenacity (turns out that to effect broad change, you need both). Still a ways to go but it’s starting.
Reitero mi llamamiento para que cesen los repetidos actos de violencia contra la población civil palestina en Cisjordania y pido con urgencia a la comunidad internacional que vele por el avance de la solución de dos Estados, en pro de una paz justa y duradera.
A fashion designer is creating clothes to pollute databases built by ALPRs like Flock.
Cybersecurity professional and designer Kate Rose developed clothing covered in fake license plates that can confuse automatic license plate readers, or ALPRs, the same broad category of surveillance technology used by companies such as Flock Safety.
The idea exploits how these cameras interpret the world. ALPR systems scan images for rectangular shapes and combinations of letters and numbers that resemble license plates. When software thinks it has found one, it isolates the image, reads the characters, and can save the plate along with information such as the time and location where it was spotted.
Rose realized that meant the system could potentially be tricked into recognizing plates that did not actually belong to vehicles. Her designs use repeating patterns made to resemble real license plates closely enough that some recognition systems may identify them as genuine.
So instead of hiding a person from the camera, the clothing tries to create false detections. If the system logs those fake plates, they become junk data mixed in with legitimate vehicle records.
That matters because networks of license plate readers can be used to build enormous databases showing where vehicles have been seen and when. Flock Safety, for example, operates camera networks used by police departments, neighborhoods, and businesses across the U.S.
Rose’s project predates the current expansion of Flock cameras and was not designed specifically for the company. She presented the work at DEF CON in 2019 as an experiment in what is sometimes called adversarial fashion: clothing designed to exploit weaknesses in computer vision.
LEDs are more energy-efficient, yet they also pose a threat to human health.
For the past two decades the global shift toward energy-efficient light-emitting diodes has drastically altered how we light our homes and offices. While highly beneficial for reducing electricity bills, these lights emit a narrow spectrum dominated by short blue wavelengths and entirely lack the long-wavelength red and infrared light found in natural sunlight and older incandescent bulbs.
Emerging research led by Professor Glen Jeffery at University College London shows that our cells’ powerhouses, the mitochondria, rely on these missing red wavelengths to function. Without them, mitochondrial respiration is suppressed, leading to systemic infrared starvation that can disrupt cellular energy production, cause chronic inflammation, and accelerate aging.
This lack of natural spectrum light is more than a matter of eye strain; it has deep metabolic consequences. Studies show that exposing the body to specific red and near-infrared light stimulates mitochondria to consume more glucose and oxygen, dramatically reducing blood glucose spikes and regulating insulin levels. Conversely, prolonged indoor exposure to red-deficient, blue-heavy LEDs is linked to metabolic dysfunction and cellular degeneration, contributing directly to chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cognitive decline, and vision loss.
As public health researchers warn of this modern environmental hazard, experts suggest reintroducing balanced full-spectrum lighting or simple red-light exposure to help restore our natural metabolic rhythms and protect long-term health.

🚨 New research shows quantum states in the brain may link consciousness to the entire universe.
In a fascinating convergence of physics and neuroscience, recent research suggests that human consciousness may function as a quantum phenomenon—one that connects our minds with the broader universe.
Building on the controversial Orch OR (Orchestrated Objective Reduction) theory, scientists are now producing experimental evidence that supports the idea that microtubules—structures within brain cells—can maintain quantum coherence, even in the brain’s warm, wet environment.
These quantum states could be the key to consciousness existing as a wave capable of superposition and entanglement, potentially linking human awareness to quantum systems across space.
This theory has gained new traction thanks to simulations and experiments showing that quantum reactions can persist inside microtubules for significantly longer than expected.
Meanwhile, theoretical physicist Timothy Palmer suggests that consciousness may reside in a cosmic fractal “state space”—a shared geometric structure that might explain both free will and our sense of being interconnected with the universe.
While not yet definitive, this research marks a critical step toward understanding consciousness as more than a neural illusion: it may be a quantum feature of reality itself.
By November–December, this El Niño will be the strongest any living person has ever experienced. It is expected to completely surpass any previous year by a massive margin.
Combined with ongoing climate change, global temperatures could briefly reach nearly 2°C above preindustrial levels in early 2027. Earth has likely not experienced temperatures that warm in hundreds of thousands of years.
At these elevated temperatures, we are going to see unprecedented climate and extreme weather events over the next 12–18 months.
Sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific have already reached Super El Niño status. A huge volume of warm water still remains in the pipeline, with a record-smashing amount of subsurface heat content in the tropical Pacific yet to surface. This subsurface heat is completely exceeding that of any prior year, including the powerful 1982–83, 1997–98, and 2015–16 El Niño's.
Everything about this El Niño is record-breaking. The rate of warming, the projected peak, the amount of subsurface heat content, etc. The next 12–18 months will be eventful, to say the least...
Until 2025, Saturn had 146 known moons, then astronomers discovered 147 new ones, bringing the ringed gas giant's total up to 293 moons—far beyond any other planet in our Solar System.

In Brazil, prisoners can reduce their sentences through a remarkable rehabilitation program called Remissão pela Leitura (Remission by Reading).
Under the initiative, inmates can shorten their prison term by 4 days for every book they read and write a report about, with a maximum of 12 books per year, allowing them to reduce their sentence by up to 48 days annually.
Launched in 2012 as part of Brazil’s Criminal Enforcement Act, the program focuses on carefully selected works of literature, philosophy, science, and classics. Prisoners must submit written reports that are rigorously evaluated to confirm they have genuinely understood and engaged with the material.
Beyond simply easing prison overcrowding, the program aims to foster literacy, critical thinking, and personal development. By encouraging constructive use of their time, Brazil is promoting meaningful rehabilitation and better preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society.

🚨 BREAKING:
Tucker Carlson: “Whether we like it or not, Iran is uniquely defending the Palestinians and the people of Lebanon. The rest of the world is watching this in horror, and no one else is doing anything about it.”
Hoy es domingo, mi día de descanso. Estoy contento de estar contigo. Espero encontrarte pensamientos poéticos que te gusten.
1. No es amor.
Es necesidad desesperada.
2. No eres todo lo que quiero
pero el que en mi quiere
no es todo lo que soy.
3. En el centro de mi celda
alojo el guardián.
4. La verdad
no es el fruto
de mis esfuerzos.
5. Si no me amas haré que me ames.
Si no me amas esperaré a que me ames.
Si no me amas yo te amaré.
6. Fuera de mí
temores prematuros.
Todo es para bien.
7. Inocencia
…
Te envío un abrazo de amistad incontenible,
Alejandro con Pascale

BREAKING: A source close to Iranian officials says Tehran has documented a pattern of oil market manipulation tied to Axios reports and Trump administration insiders, including evidence of a $9 billion insider trading operation linked to Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
Some of the documented timeline from the $9 billion insider profit:
Between April and May 2026, a series of suspiciously timed trades in oil futures markets preceded major Iran war announcements—each tied to reporting by Axios.
On March 23, approximately $500–580 million in shorts were placed 15 minutes before Trump announced he was postponing strikes on Iran. Oil dropped.
On April 7, roughly $950–960 million in shorts were placed hours before Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran. Oil fell around 15 percent.
On April 17, around $760 million in shorts were placed 20 minutes before Iran's foreign minister announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Oil dropped.
On April 21, approximately $430 million in shorts were placed 15 minutes before Trump extended the ceasefire. Oil dropped again.
On May 6, nearly $920 million to $1.7 billion in crude oil shorts were placed approximately 70 minutes before an Axios scoop claimed the U.S. and Iran were near a "14-point agreement." Oil dropped 12 percent. Traders made an estimated $125 million. Iran called the report "the Americans' wish list."
Previously, a senior Iranian official told investigative outlet Drop Site News that Tehran privately warned JD Vance during Switzerland talks that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were "abusing" negotiations"more interested in exploiting insider knowledge to profit in financial markets than reaching a deal."
Israel is the only on Earth that can:
• Bomb 9 countries
• Invade 3 neighboring ones
• Kill 100,000 people (including 25,000 children) in 1,000 days
• Displace nearly 6 million across 3 countries
• Starve 2 million in Gaza
• Violate every major international convention
• Kidnap, rape, torture, shoot, imprison and murder
…and still be sold to the world as the victim.
Let that sink in.
