@AodhanORiordain Can you ask the Min Ed if they intend to actually test the output of the algorithm this year or are they going to just hope for the best like #lc2020. While u are at it u might ask her when the inquiry into lasts years #LeavingCert2020 disaster is going to start?
@NormaFoleyTD1 definitely has some explaining to do. This is blatantly uncompassionate for all of the affected students who she, as Minister, had a duty of care for
@evelynharte @Sandra59966719 Not sure. But a highly flawed algorithm has still not been analysed for accuracy. The judge also insisted on a ‘lead’ case, but then never went beyond the impact it had on Belvedere. It’s hardly a ‘lead’ case, if it doesn’t consider the algorithm’s affect on other schools.
@PatKennyNT Problem is, even if you do all exams, you can still be robbed of your course choice, by an algorithm that favours schools that over-estimate. The judge refused to address this problem by dismissing the challenge. Not addressing schools that inflate grades, is a big issue for 2021
Seems like all is quiet on the #LeavingCert2020 court cases front!
Anyone know what's happening?
Or has all been abandoned because of one judge's opinion?
These students and their families will never forget!
@The_Student01 What dismays me is that the Judge directed how this case was to run, as the ‘lead case’ and then failed to look at the flawed algorithm outside of Belvedere. It’s not that it had ‘reduced accuracy’. The algorithm has zero statistical relevance. It found targets and hammered those
@Independent_ie Claims it was a masterclass 🤣😢Like flying a jet with untested software. This plane took off but it crashed as a result of errors. Unfortunately, the #LeavingCert2020 students are the wreckage.
With heartache that's happened because of #leavingcert2020 and rejection to acknowledge unfairness and inequity. I just hope @NormaFoleyTD1 will know the extent of what it felt like for us to have our hopes and dreams crushed by an algorithm filled with error.
@lindamahon19 @steph3179 @evelynharte @metalman69 Nothing more awful than the treatment of last year's students no such thing as accountability in this place this isn't the last of it we've heard
@A_lee_see_ahh@issu4u@Education_Ire@NormaFoleyTD1@MichealMartinTD@fiannafailparty My experience was once the results came out and many like me were “unfairly downgraded” YOU all had no advice or support....not a word.Perhaps I’d be the same if “I” wasn’t a victim but honestly if I was part of the issu I would be looking for justice for 20k devastated students
@evelynharte @steph3179 There was also no mention of " breach of contract ". Thise students signed up to calculated grades which was to include their schools historical preformance only for her to remove the it therefore changing a binding contract without consent. Wouldnt get away with it in AOB
@Suzanne2017@mariafaherty I think they felt hitting kids at the top end that most of those kids came from money & could afford to go abroad where the truth is hardworking kids were affected across the board & dreams of college courses were ripped away by @NormaFoleyTD1
Just talked to a 6th year student who is absolutely terrified of the #LeavingCert system. She saw what they did to us last year and is afraid that her H1s will be swapped for H3s. They did it once, they can do it again. @NormaFoleyTD1
@evelynharte @TinaMurnotbot After 8 months out of school and most getting courses only the downgraded and home schooled had the dilemma of sitting exams in Nov with no support whatsoever.....and those 8 months included switching off for Summer .Never heard of downgrading and trusted des to be Fair to All
