For more than four decades, I have watched the same pattern repeat itself: government regulators, industry executives, and medical doctors assuring the public that vaccines are safe and the science is settled, while deliberately concealing the truth that would allow parents to make fully informed, voluntary vaccination decisions.

43 years ago, when I was among the parents blowing the whistle after our children suffered DPT vaccine reactions, I was told that what I saw with my own eyes happen after vaccination to my son “didn’t happen.”

I was told to be quiet, to trust the system, and to stop asking questions that made powerful people uncomfortable.

What is described in this post is what so many of us had to learn the hard way: the institutions entrusted with protecting the people have instead protected themselves. They control the narrative, they control the data, and when the facts become inconvenient, they bury them.

What you are seeing today is not new. It is simply no longer hidden.

Parents deserve honesty—not half-truths, omissions, and carefully crafted talking points. They deserve transparency not stonewalls, denials, and after-the-fact corrections. And, they deserve the basic human right to make voluntary vaccination decisions without coercion or punishment.

I talked about this in 1982, and it remains true in 2025: When the public is not given the whole truth about vaccine risks, trust collapses. And the fault lies with those who withheld it. The courage of the mothers and fathers speaking out in the 20th century about DPT risks echoes the courage of those who spoke out about smallpox vaccine risks before them, and fuels the courage of those speaking out about the risks of MMR, hepatitis B, HPV and COVID vaccines today.

And the chorus is only growing louder.
