We may run, walk, stumble, drive or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss the chance to see a rainbow on the way. (G. Gaither)
Today, Thursday, August 13, 2026, is International Left-Handers Day.
Observed every year on this date, the holiday celebrates left-handed people, who make up roughly 7–12% of the world’s population, and raises awareness of the everyday challenges they face in a world designed primarily for right-handers.
The day was first observed in 1976 by Dean R. Campbell, the founder of the Left-Handers Club (Lefthanders International). It gained wider recognition in the early 1990s through the UK-based Left-Handers Club as a way for lefties to celebrate their "sinistrality" and highlight the advantages and inconveniences of being left-handed.
Something to celebrate...while walking down an empty hallway today at UWMC/NW, the song en route to lunch, “Here Comes the Sun”, played out on the loud speaker indicating the discharge of a COVID case. Woohoo! Sorry I ruined it. Ya might want to turn the volume down. Haha!
Thank you, Isaiah Thomas, for the boxes of Pagliacci 🍕 ! 💜💛
