@SandeepMall Environment quality (life chances for current & future gen) and passport worth is much better, I'm told by friends who moved out/never returned.
This is a great podcast even better than the film in terms of the depth of content. Congrats dear @manishchandi and Mr. @vardhanpatankar for that excellent conversation with @RahulGandhi - learnt so much. Here's the link do listen. https://t.co/rsdeormr7H

You can’t plant your way out of destroying natural barriers.
In Pune, alert citizens track, document, and confront "development". At a meeting, one asks: When will you sit here as a Punekar, and not merely as an official? Why can’t you save what’s already defending us?

Who are these wonderful doctors who went on hunger strike on a public health issue?

This is a fantastic course on evolutionary biology! I watched the lectures while these were being produced by @SutirthDey and @SMC_IISERPune
I last studied bio formally in class 12th, and this brought my curiosity back to life.
Sharp, engaging. Highly recommended!
Registrations are now open for my NPTEL course on Evolutionary Biology. This is a very basic introduction to the subject.
Please spread the word.

10 years ago, a pediatric in Guwahati made similar observations in a citizens meeting linking air pollution with metal health of infants. Drs were noticing the effects, but city folks resisted researchers who wanted to install air quality monitors.
Alarming findings from @aiims_newdelhi; air pollution particles can cross the placental barrier, disrupt fetal growth, and increase risks of low birth weight, preterm birth, and pregnancy complications.
All has been said many times over but what remains unclear is why protecting mothers and children is still not an urgent national priority :(

An invisible crisis is unfolding across Delhi. Ground level ozone exceeded standards at more than half of monitoring stations this May, with some locations recording nearly 3 times the safe limit. Our children cannot wait. We need urgent, science based action on ozone pollution.

My first PhD student. Best thesis award. 5 year journey with 18 months in North Bengal’s fields.
@aakkoobaba taught me as much as I taught him.
Grateful to our stellar RAC - Sharad Lele, Qamar Qureshi, Gazala Shabbuddin.
Akashdeep, your journey has only begun. So proud. 🐘.
El efecto de un solo árbol en la calle es equivalente a cinco aires acondicionados del tamaño de una habitación funcionando 20 horas al día. Si nuestra ciudad se llenara de calles como esta la vida en verano sería mucho más agradable.
Could prolonged use of AI be "dumbing" the person down? "We haven't done this enough to know what the consequences will be on society's cognitive makeup." My long-ranging chat with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras's (@iitmadras) Prof Mahesh Panchagnula on his podcast. We talk of science journalism/writing, books, career transitions, AI, and much more. Thanks Mahesh for a wonderful conversation! Video: https://t.co/EKV3TFyK7N
A lovely film made by Raju Hirani on the occasion of 100 years of Bajaj group, a business family I respect immensely. What was amazing to me was that the characters enacted by the Bajaj family members are all done by AI!!
At some point every Holocaust museum will be forced to include an exhibit on what’s happening in Gaza right now. It’s only a matter of time. Dr. Nick Maynard of Oxford University medical school has been a witness to the genocide.
