🧵The ethical argument weighs heavy against the #Taliban banning women from public life. But there is another argument to be made: excluding females is also a poor economic decision, esp. in war-affected #Afghanistan.

Anyone who cared about No Other Land should care about what is actually happening on the ground: today our water tanks, 9 homes and 3 ancient caves were destroyed. Masafer Yatta is disappearing in front of my eyes. Only one name for these actions: ethnic cleansing.
My colleagues gave repeated standing ovations to Netanyahu yesterday.
I hope they remember the starving children of Gaza who will carry the scars of this disaster for the rest of their lives.
LSE IDEAS Associate @nvfinckenstein recently authored this publication with @LSE_CCRG looking at how Afghanistan's current policy of excluding Afghan women from an already-fragile economy has significant economic ripple effects.

Female students in northern Balkh province stand outside a university and cannot access the campus. The Taliban has banned millions of girls from attending schools and universities. #LetHerLearn

Check out as well this map that Airwars' amazing geolocation and data visualization team designed & that translates the numbers into faces & human fates: https://t.co/7i33hR3yhE
This major @Airwars study shows how urban warfare & population density often go hand in hand with devastating levels of civilian harm. Happy to have been able to contribute to this great team in researching & assessing civilian harm incidents in Gaza, Syria & ISR:
A major new Airwars study examines civilian harm from Israeli strikes in Gaza and Syria. The differences are stark.
During 11 days in May, IDF strikes in Gaza likely killed up to 10x more civilians than the country's eight-year bombing campaign in Syria.

The findings call for more int. pressure & standards on restricting the use of wide area effect weapons in populated areas.
A particularly noteworthy number:In over 70% of reported cases of civilians being killed/wounded, we were unable to identify any Gaza militants being hurt
