Nostr Wallet Connect

Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) is an open protocol to connect lightning wallets to apps

[Nostr Wallet Connect @nwc_dev]

NWC interoperability layer is growing so big it's getting harder and harder to fit everything in one ecosystem map 😅

In version 1.9 we have 9 additions, let's take a look! 🧵

biggest new source of Lightning users: people who have no idea what they are doing, but their agents know how to use NWC codes and generate invoices....

Bitcoiners are still sleeping on @nwc_dev. It can connect your self-custodial LN wallet with apps and enable very real and practical use cases.

For example, we use NWC to:
- enable your Lightning wallet to spend Bitcoin wherever debit cards are accepted
- Sell Bitcoin via NWC and get an instant SEPA bank transfer.
- 1-click topups to deposit more Bitcoin from self-custody

Safely accept Bitcoin Lightning (and optional stablecoins) with BTCPayServer, with OpenReceive.

🚨 If you connected your NWC wallet to Bitcoin Quest, please rotate your connection (remove it inside your wallet and connect again) - your funds may be at risk

Security Notice

Alert to Nostr users who have signed into our app, Bitcoin Quest, using Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC):

A vulnerability has been exposed, and you should rotate your connection string secret by generating a new NWC URI from your wallet app.

This is a precaution because the secret is visible to whoever operates the relay endpoint in the NWC URI. We recommend rotating your secret to be on the safe side.

We caught this vulnerability during a Kimi K3 audit of our code and have already patched it so nothing like this will happen again.

We’re always doing our best to make sure our app is secure, and we apologize this happened. The broader industry is on high alert right now for obvious reasons. If you’re running code, audit it with multiple frontier AI models as soon as possible, especially if you control user funds, which we do not on Bitcoin Quest.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Thank you.

Hi! 👋

Have any questions about Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC)?
Check out the Zeus docs: https://t.co/sQmM19TO1C

Make your first NWC @nwc_dev connection with your favorite Nostr client using @ZeusLN

[Roland @rolznz]

Your agent can also setup your @getAlby hub with a @secondhq bark backend and create @nwc_dev connections for you!

Use your favorite agent, Claude, Codex, etc. Here I used Pi agent with a local LLM.

1/ Bark is now a Lightning backend option in Alby Hub.

@getAlby built the integration on the Bark SDK in record time, just days after our mainnet launch. You can now enable Lightning payments in your hub with no Lightning node, channels, or liquidity to manage.
