@RepAndyVargas I was at that game last night. It was so much fun! As I was walking back to my car, everyone was a buzz about how fun and exciting the game was, especially with the walk-off, but just the overall energy of the crowd was what makes Fenway so special.
Hey look, Haverhill is receiving >$600 more per pupil in aid. I wonder where that money will actually go? (8000 students • $600 per student=$4,800,000, and that's just the minimum since we're receiving more than a $600 increase)
This map from the @MassAuditor's report is fascinating, not only because hey, Student Opportunity Act! but because we rarely see maps of the school *districts* in Massachusetts on a map. #MAedu
Honors students have been creating models of the carbon cycle all week. Today, they critiqued each other's work during a gallery walk. Tomorrow, they will present them to the class. I'm thrilled with how these turned out! More close-up photos tomorrow.
According to my records, the last time I did a lab in my classroom with students was February 4th, 2020. After approximately 616 days, lab day is returning tomorrow! I can't wait to actually see my students do science! #hilliesengaged#chromatography
20 years ago seems so long ago, and yet it also feels like yesterday. Thank you to the HHS JROTC for putting together a remembrance ceremony today #neverforget
It's almost time for another school year to begin. Setting up my classroom this year feels much more hopeful than last year. There is a very different feeling when you are arranging 24 desks instead of 6. Looking forward to teaching a full classroom of students this year!
Great turnout for the Class of 2025 Freshman Orientation tonight. All 600 chairs were filled plus many had to stand or sit on bleachers alongside the track. An estimated 800 people attended, which bodes well for a great school year ahead. Welcome, Hillies! #hilliesengaged
Two big wins for the JV Softball team versus Andover this week. First, a come back from behind, extra innings, 11-8 win on Wednesday. Then, a walk-off, 4-3 win on Friday! #hillies#hilliessoftball
It was nice to have them work in pairs on a lab activity and actually get them talk to each other. Technology can be great, but it was nice to take a break from it, even though it was unexpected.
When given the option, about 1/2 of my in person students choose to work on paper. Today, they were all forced to use paper due to a wifi outage. I used my phone for the Google meet, and we made it work. My in person students said it felt normal to them, which makes me happy.
