European Council President @CharlesMichel says the EU is "stepping up to the plate" with climate finance...

But it’s clear that $31 billion doesn’t reflect a true "fair share" when considering the scale of action needed and the EU’s past contributions to the crisis.

I woke up this morning, on the first day of #COP29, with a message from a colleague who's enduring the 3rd typhoon of the season (2 more coming), who wrote: "We don’t want to be labeled resilient. We want governments and corporations to be accountable." This is what's at stake.

Yesterday, EU finance ministers approved their conclusions on climate finance ahead of #COP29.

Spoiler: There's nothing new.

Calling for a 'transformative' goal is not enough.

It's only transformative if there's significantly more public finance on the table.
