@SteveCaple4 I went in “The Star’ a good few times c45 years ago on our epic Northants wide pub crawls - it used to serve Hook Norton beers straight from the barrel I seem to remember.
In the WW1 the Supreme Allied Commander, Foch, was French. In WW2, it was Eisenhower so nothing new in the British forces ultimately being under the command of someone who is not a British Citizen.

@PaulOzNo1 Anyway, are you packing it in then m’owd? Retiring? I’m just about to start a new 2.5 day a week job as it happens as an Environmental Maintenance Executive! Basically strimming, chainsawing, mowing & hedge cutting in the bog wildlife walk area in the nearest village to our farm.
@Debtmastersize5 Good points - I was a bit of a sceptic about it at the time but in the pilots, the loans were popular with customers, esp those who never repaid them!
