Can't tell you how much I wish movies like these were still being made.
And these are just a few of my favorites. There's also White Fang, Little Giants, The Sandlot, Blank Check, Richie Rich... the list goes on.
They were filled with real people, real locations, real extras, real friendships, and real stakes (at least when you were 10 years old).
The heroes weren't perfect. Kids failed. They got hurt. They were scared. There was a little light cursing, an awkward romance, and a lot of heart.
I think about when Henry realizes his Mom was actually the star pitcher, or when Junior Bevel sees his Dad wearing a Jamaican Bobsled Team shirt, or the first "Ducks Fly Together" chant.
Today's family movies can still tell great stories, but I miss this era of real life adventures. There was something about watching real kids in a real world that made you believe you could have an adventure too.
Maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe we really did lose something worth keeping.
bro we can’t even have public transportation bc they’re afraid of all the money-making systems collapsing
we can’t have legal cannabis bc big pharma and big alcohol are threatened
WTF IS THIS COUNTRY FOR IF NOT COMPETITION YOU PUSSIES
We really CANNOT have sustainable energy because it threatens the oil industry. We cannot have healthcare because it threatens insurance. We cannot have peace because it threatens the weapons industry. Capitalism built a system where doing the right thing is treated like bad business.
Calling cannabis a “gateway drug” while ignoring that alcohol and nicotine are the first substances most people ever abuse is one of the biggest propaganda wins in modern history.
Someone had to say it
SERIOUS QUESTION: You don’t find it weird that not a single billionaire wants to end world poverty ?? Doesn’t it strike you as bizarre that no one with that kind of wealth wants to be the hero who actually solves the world’s biggest problems when they literally could ?? Isn’t that suspicious ??
In case you’re wondering how ridiculous the wedding industry has gotten, there’s an episode of bar rescue at a bar in Black Canyon City Arizona where the owners are such raging alcoholics Jon Taffer has to breathalyze them before work and that venue starts at $15,500
@nxtlevelallie@mamaztheguru Hiiii you two!!! <3 actually, there are no dispensaries in the state of Tennessee, as recreational NOR medical. You work at (and OP buys from) a glorified hemp store, you dumb motherfuckers. - an actual budtender <333
@chatrthiz@mamaztheguru this was so unnecessarily rude lmao. your prob a bot but just in case, check your flower for the thca % next time and get back to me about the “glorified hemp” i sell 😘😘
@mamaztheguru i totally get that, it is def a large portion of what our customers want and hell, i buy the flower and prerolls myself sometimes 🥲 a v sad time to be a tennessean, hoping for positive change in the near future
@theneedledrop “disliking an album” =/= calling the performer ego-centric while ignoring the context of the album within the performer’s life. if you can’t understand nuance in music you should be in a different fucking profession ffs
