We couldn’t be happier to announce that Stanley Bellamy is our new NYC Community Organizer. We worked together when Stanley was in prison. Just 6 months after returning home from 38 years behind bars, Stanley will be leading our work in NYC. Please join us in welcoming him. 🎉
Today we spoke with Long Islanders in Freeport about New York’s prisons. Many signed postcards to their State Senator in support of Elder Parole and Fair & Timely Parole. One formerly incarcerated woman we spoke to said, “I changed my life and now I give back to my community.”
BREAKING: The People’s Campaign for Parole Justice has dropped a banner off the front of the NY State Capitol. Our message is clear: We’re calling on Assembly Speaker @CarlHeastie and Senate Majority Leader @AndreaSCousins to pass the Elder Parole and Fair & Timely Parole bills.
Then later today, my good friend & I organized Hempstead faith leaders & houses of worship to support our momentous #ParoleJusticeNY campaign. Despite all the naysayers, we will win.
Days like today fill my cup & restore my faith in the core belief that organizing wins!
Grateful to have organized 20+ groups, advocates & community members to support asylum seekers in Suffolk County (1/2)

STATEMENT: Tonight, New York's legislature printed a budget bill that will weaken the civil rights protections of our bail law.
We call on our lawmakers to vote no on this budget that will wantonly expand the pretrial incarceration of Black, brown, and poor people.
Friday evening, our team officially kicked off our historic campaign to bring new and effective leadership to the Town of Islip.
Thank you to all the community members, elected officials and leaders that joined in support of this campaign.
Democrats didn’t lose on Long Island because Long Island is 🔴
Democrats lost on Long Island because Dem voters here are disenfranchised.

Today we were back at the Wyandanch LIRR Station talking to Long Island community members about parole reform and clemency. 29 people signed up to join our campaign. 3/4 of LIers are white but half of LIers in prison are Black and 80% are POC. This isn’t a justice system.
A first for RAPP: We’re at a @phish show in Jones Beach talking with Long Islanders about reuniting families, ending mass incarceration and healing communities.
Thanks @PhanForRacEq for partnering with us.
TODAY: Long Island RAPP Leader Caroline was at @GovKathyHochul’s event in Hauppauge to ask the Governor to free her husband from prison.
“My daughters and I need your help. We need you to grant clemency to my husband and others like him.” #ClemencyNow
We are appalled that any lawmaker would run away from our Long Island Leader Caroline as she pleads: “My husband will die in prison. Please, just a minute of your time.” We join with Caroline and all of our impacted leaders fighting for justice for themselves and their families.
It was the left, the grassroots that knocked thousands of doors, made calls, and spread the message to make sure both LI flipped blue and took down the IDC. It was groups like @LI_Activists@ny02indivisible @PEER_SouthFork @makeNYTrueBlue@NYPANetwork@NoIDCNY @es_indivisible

Today, four @RAPPcampaign Leaders with loved ones in prison will testify at a state legislative hearing. There's a gap between Gov. Hochul's proposal for in-prison programs and re-entry supports: parole reform. A preview of their testimony. https://t.co/epDtPLOj4e
