Earlier this month, the Teamsters’ Amazon Labor Union’s local gave the monster warehouse and retail firm a deadline of December 15 to follow the law and agree to bargaining dates for a union contract. Amazon ignored it and now 10,000 workers are holding Unfair Labor Practice strikes around the country, including New York, Atlanta, California, and Illinois. Other picket locations are being set up at facilities in multiple states.

The scale of the strike, with more than 20 warehouse and driver units across the country, is unprecedented.

Just this morning, NYPD in Queens arrested two workers and broke the picket line at the facility there. The CPUSA firmly rejects the anti-worker, pro-corporate maneuvering and calls on the N.Y. elected officials to intervene and ensure that workers’ labor rights are protected. We call on our members and allies in the labor movement to join a picket line and stand in solidarity with the brave Amazon Teamsters.
