2 Puerto Rican landscapers were verbally assaulted and physically harassed by a man and woman in Middletown, Connecticut who complained that the landscapers were making too much noise. This video was recorded by Jose Martin who owns J. Martin landscaping. He and a man he says is his brother were accosted by 62-year-old Robert Shaw and 58-year-old Sharon Bourgeois-Williams who came out yelling rascist slurs at them, suggesting that they are the reason the border wall should be built and that one of them is in the country illegally.
Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens. The man and woman suspects were arrested for disorderly conduct. The female suspect cried on camera telling a news reporter that she's sorry and she'd been drinking and hasn't been herself lately. She claimed she's not a racist and that her son is Puerto Rican. The male suspect said they were in the wrong and he also apologized.

BREAKING: The CEO of @Hertz wrote a letter to Puerto Rico‘s representative in Congress stating that Hertz has rewritten its policy to make it abundantly clear that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory - not a foreign country - & because of that Puerto Rico driver’s licenses are not international IDs they are just as valid as any ID from any state in this union. This news follows the story I first reported last week, where a Puerto Rican man at the New Orleans international airport was denied a rental car because at least two Hertz workers said his license was international. On top of that, the man who recorded the incident, had the police called on him by a Hertz employee who said he can never rent from Hertz again because he recorded the incident. *She was wrong; he can rent from Hertz again*. The police officer who responded to the call was dismissive and rude and is now the subject of an internal investigation by his police department because the customer, Mr. Humberto Marchand, filed a complaint with the @KennerPolice. Following our report, Representative @Jenniffer wrote a letter to Hertz asking for a companywide educational campaign, and she got it.

1 more thing: when Marchand complained to Hertz via Twitter he was essentially told that the Hertz rep was right because his license is in Spanish. It’s also in English! & they had it on file & the lady had it in her hand. It wasn’t until I called them that they said: Our bad.

Now, @KennerPolice police say the cop did not represent them well & they’re investigating his conduct. They say they’ll take necessary corrective actions. Humberto Marchand, the Puerto Rican, man/customer in this video also filed a formal complaint with the dept.
