On 25 August, we remember the Rohingya lives lost and honor every survivor of persecution. Our suffering did not begin in 2017; many Rohingya families have been living as refugees since 1991–1992.

NEW: On the 9th anniversary of the #Rohingya genocide, 70 Myanmar and international human rights organizations call on U.N. member states to end impunity for atrocities against Rohingya.

The organizations urge the U.N. Security Council to refer the situation in #Myanmar to the ICC, impose targeted sanctions and a global arms embargo on the military junta, and urgently increase humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees and displaced people.

The violence of 1942 did not begin the way some try to portray it. Thousands of Rohingya civilians were massacred, and hundreds of thousands were forced to flee their homes in Arakan.

For decades, Rohingya have endured killings, displacement, statelessness, and genocide.

In 2025, hundreds of Rohingya lost their lives crossing the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. In 2026, the situation has become even deadlier. We are deeply saddened by reports that approximately 250 men, women,and children are missing at sea after a boat carrying Rohingya refugees.

❌"Illegal immigrants"❌

That’s how Malaysian media describe Rohingya refugees fleeing genocide, when their boat sinks off the Malaysia–Thailand border. No mention of refugees, asylum or survival. Just criminalisation. The language of bureaucracy doing the work of erasure. They are not “illegal.” They are people denied every legal route to safety.
