@john__gerrard@LACMA “If artists do not meet the next generation where they are—on the network, on the phone—art as we know it will dry up. The phone is a cultural space of great poetic and transformative power.”

With the immense help of a long, dedicated team I’m deeply grateful to.
These include John’s studio, my team at Fellowship, Art Basel, and all the positive, supportive people who surround us.
@john__gerrard@artblocks_io@PaceGallery 195 national flags as generative smoke formations.
Solar cycles, climate logic, fully on Ethereum.
Super smart concept. Clean onchain execution. Serious art context.
I keep coming back to @john__gerrard’s World Flag on @artblocks_io, presented with @PaceGallery. To me, it’s one of the most underrated onchain works out there.

@rektdadd Honestly, this is very poorly executed. It just shows that the artist - if you can even call him that - either wanted to make quick money or has no real understanding of the space.
In Gift of Time, tiny blocky figures move across the canvas. They are inspired by old video games and the simple square shapes from which early digital worlds were built.
They travel through a hidden grid inside the artwork, following their own paths second by second, always visible, bouncing off the walls like they’re trapped in time, within an endless system of motion.
I use pixels in my work because I grew up with them. They feel as natural to me as any other element in everyday life: a simplified unit of image construction.
Gift of Time #26
My thoughts exactly. Slept on the bids a bit last night and three other collectors got absolutely incredible entries. I've got a good stack already, but I'll be trying to get one or two more, I see these being the main new artsy project of this season. Anyone who takes a peek at them is floored by their beauty.
Seasonal tempo:
The hands don’t tick at one speed all year. They breathe with the seasons, speed up at the solstices and equinoxes, and ease back to their regular tempo in between. 🕙
