Landlords will now pay rental income tax every month.
Under the passed FY 2026/27 Budget, tax on rental income will be paid monthly instead of waiting for a longer tax period.
Rental income tax is the tax paid on money earned from renting out houses, apartments, shops or other property.
Before this change, landlords generally filed and paid it through the annual income tax return system.
Registering or transferring vehicle ownership now comes with a new stamp duty charge.
For motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles, the charge is Shs30,000.
For other motor vehicles, the charge is Shs200,000.
Government expects this measure to raise Shs25 billion.
You wake up and visit @PoliceUg stations and they can't register your case and give you even a useless reference number. That should scare every citizen.
As some critics draw parallels between Gen. @mkainerugaba and Idi Amin, three former Israeli hostages who were held at Entebbe during the 1976 hijacking have returned to Uganda with a very different perspective.
Shay Gross recalled seeing Muhoozi publicly express support for Israel, including an offer to send 100,000 Ugandan troops in its defence, a striking contrast for people who lived through Amin’s Uganda firsthand.
NTV has produced a feature chronicling Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba's transgressions over the years, especially human rights violations.
This is heavy. Pray for the Nation Media Group. Watch.
When you ban civic education you end up with top army leaders and Ministers who do not know the role of lawyers and the fact that its courts that issue summonses and a summon is not a conviction
I have a feeling state attorneys like Birivubuka have Lukwago’s file already sanctioned, they are only waiting for what charge MK tells them to put.
Out DPP is so dead, they can even charge him for a traffic offense committed before the law came into force
@UEDCLTD In the umeme era, both would be carried forward and accumulate. It is strange seeing a supposedly more pro-ugandan, less profit-minded entity scrapping carrying forward of the lifeline units while keeping the service fee to accumulate!
Australia’s Transport body coined a message for decades, "If you speed, you're a bloody idiot!” to create social stigma around speeding!
What should we tell #Ugandans?
Uganda is an interesting country. We recently enacted a law criminalising foreign interference in our Government policy (a.k.a protection of sovereignty) and no sooner had the ink dried on the paper of the statute books than we started discussing whether a person that is both a Ugandan and a foreigner (dual citizen ) should be at the helm of the Ministry of Interior that is supposed to enforce the law!
One of our favourite delicacies is called KATOGO. It is prepared by mixing different foods in the same pan.
Did you know that for every bag of coffee beans you harvest, you’re producing nearly an equal amount of "waste"?
Most of us have been throwing away or selling these husks for next to nothing, but latest research shows they are a nutritional and economic powerhouse.
Meet Cascara (Spanish for "skin" or husk). It’s the outer part of the coffee cherry that we usually discard.
Why the sudden interest in Cascara?
✅New income opportunities
Farmers can turn coffee husks into premium cascara tea, creating an additional product from the same harvest.
✅Growing global demand
Cascara is rich in antioxidants and potassium, making it increasingly popular in health-conscious markets.
✅Healthier coffee farms
When dumped improperly, wet coffee waste can increase soil acidity and damage coffee trees. But when processed correctly, coffee husks and pulp can become valuable organic fertilizer.
✅A stronger coffee economy
Value addition helps farmers earn more, reduce waste, and become less vulnerable to fluctuating coffee prices.
The future of coffee is not just in the bean.
It is in how we use every part of the cherry innovatively.
