@BritInWgtn @fizzanddumpling For the record I support border restrictions + keeping my whanau safe. The circles I run in don't want them blindly removed either. I consider the MIQ *system* separately from the border. As a method to get kiwis home MIQ = opaque + distressing for kiwis it is supposed to support

@fizzanddumpling @jedsta77 @DLMtd2 Appreciate the recognition that the MIQ system needs improvement. Many people are not so kind and don’t care to spare any sympathy or empathy. In fact, many would rather increase the hurt for whatever reason. Glad you’re not among them.

@iokiwi @fizzanddumpling Who are “these people”? I support a version of MIQ that meets the needs of the users and treats them like citizens who have done nothing wrong. Both re: allocation and during confinement.

@DLMtd2 @fizzanddumpling Shelter in place is only message JA directed at expat kiwis to date. It meant she can’t help me, but I can do my part for NZ by staying away just in case. Keep myself safe while she keeps my whanau safe. Now my family needs me+I need them. Shelter in place should be a placeholder

@DLMtd2 @fizzanddumpling Are you saying you think we have gone through the same thing in NZ vs abroad? A home away from home isn’t the same in a crisis. My PCR test results took 9 hours, the infamous DJ’s was 3 days. Trained nurses are unable to start their jobs in Feb because they can’t get spots.

@DLMtd2 @fizzanddumpling My hard work looks different to yours - I was told to shelter in place. I am fed up with no of recognition of my sacrifice + annoyed its been for nothing. Test capacity issues, skilled health workers can't get in, no additional ICU capacity, reduction in MIQ spots. Rubbish really

@smizz Hiii from cambs. Read a report by your team yesterday, miss working with you guys! Zoom games I recommend: just one (online), codenames, pass the bomb and nobody explodes, jackbox tv. Also know a guy who does hilarious drawing workshops.

@Chatham_Islands @phillippaonline @lailaharre People have been trying. I know someone who had 10 cancelled flights. Not all of them refunded. Who has that kind of money lying around?Not everyone who wanted to return could straight away, so we followed the next advice - shelter in place. Still deserve support + understanding

@marydsoco @vaughndavis @Paul_Kasner @lailaharre As a kiwi in UK I wouldn’t mind waiting until Im recovered if there is support to ensure I have 1) rights to stay until recovered despite visas, 2) rebooking flights and quarantine etc. Currently too stressful to even consider returning! Let alone court of public opinion in NZ.

#cambscops In the early hours of this morning Officers attended the area of Lovell Rd Cambridge, Reports of a three meter snake seen in the area. Police have located the owner but not the Reticulated Python confirmed to be 9ft long. Any sighting please notify Cambs Police on 101.
