We are looking for a PhD student/Postdoc to develop methods of cryo-ET and/or study the structure and function of membrane proteins. Great team at the MDC in Berlin.
It's a broad call, please apply and share!

My latest bit of work is up as a pre-print. We made an AMPA receptor GluA2 knock-in mouse in order to label and localize endogenous AMPARs at the synapse using cryoET. More details below and on biorxiv here:

Interested in seeing exactly what happens when a virus enters the nucleus? I'm looking for a postdoc (or possibly grad student) to advance our in situ cryo-ET studies of virus infection. Please contact me directly if interested.
CryoCycle your grids! Plunge vitrify & reuse clipped cryoEM grids. We show vitrified proteins & cells (thin areas), offering $10k+/yr in savings. Added benefits: simpler clipping, less grid damage, no frozen fingers, & no need for commercial plungers.

This is a very interesting paper showing that nanodiscs, typically used to preserve lipids for structural analysis of membrane proteins, can affect the structure of the target protein.
First paper I read this year, happy 2024!

Muyuan has been working on this for some time, it's cool to see a manuscript: How to create full, atomic resolution scenes of biomolecules in Unreal Engine and fly around them in real-time. Really cool stuff with untapped potential.

The #cryoEM research centers @UWBiochem are recruiting! We seek to hire an #administrative#assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a passion for science, organization, communications, and outreach. Take a look! DM & RT! https://t.co/RsQRRLt1do
Very excited for Correlative Montage Parallel Array Cryo-Tomography (say that ten times fast!) for in situ structural cell biology from the Wright lab @erwright73 https://t.co/0oEmcAjCxP
Very pleased to see our new paper out in @Nature
revealing structural diversity of Type2 AMPA receptors, with consequences for gating and synaptic transmission. https://t.co/pcjT5uXn9B
I'm looking for someone to join the Rutgers CryoEM & Nanoimaging Facility staff...anyone interested in doing cryo-transmission electron microscopy, focused ion beam micromachining, cryo-electron tomography, &c.?
Here, the highly talented team at @SEMC_NYSBC present a step-by-step protocol for Smart Leginon Autoscreen that significantly reduces the cryoEM screening bottleneck, allowing for more rapid grid & sample optimization.

Due to expansion, the #cryoEM centers @UWBiochem are recruiting staff scientists! The centers use all forms of cryo-imaging - #cryoCLEM, #cryoET, #spa, #microED, and #cryoFIB. The centers are an inclusive & collaborative research environment - join us! https://t.co/r1FiM5wNAU
Do you have time-resolved cryoEM projects that need mixing 2 samples from 100-500ms? Email [email protected] if Spotiton access may work for you. Please include a short paragraph briefly stating the project, the protein mass, & timescales of interest. Refs: PMIDs 32778833, 33720116
We and the @rbolab are excited to present AlphaLink https://t.co/RuZvaIehxd a modified version of the AlphaFold2 protein structure prediction algorithm that can directly incorporate experimental residue-residue contact data from crosslinking MS (and potentially other techniques)!
Happy to share our recent work on mRNA translation and protein biogenesis at the ER. From >1000 tomograms 'Mad' @MaxGemmer &Co deduce the interplay of polysomes, translocons and chaperones. Great collaboration with @xlinkx_pd and @AbhayKot teams. https://t.co/UT0x4mwziQ
💥We're hiring! Two fully-funded postdoc positions at my lab at the NIH intramural program in Frederick, MD. We are mapping the structure of whole proteomes using crosslinking MS and structure modeling.
At one of the most dynamic scientific institutes! Links are below.
