Earth Day 2023 - we read some interesting books about the planet, pond dipped and made some Earth Day artwork using recycled cardboard. We have been deciding how we can ‘Invest in Our Planet’ 🌎

Exploring jinks, struts and trusses as part of our bridge designs!

We have arrived in Portugal! The longest bridge in Europe is Vasco da Gama Bridge in Portugal. In DT we have been learning the different types of bridges and why they are so strong. We completed an investigation to make our bridges stronger using triangulation!

Our first day back and we have launched our new project ‘What is Europe’s most Wondrous Wonder?’ We used our atlases to locate and name some of the 50 countries in Europe. Tomorrow we will visit the first country on our journey!

Immersing ourselves in woodlands today in preparation for writing our setting descriptions of Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood! We noted things we could see, hear and feel to help our imaginative writing ✍️🌳

In art we are learning about the artist L.S Lowry. We created fact files about his life and then discussed his famous landscape paintings. We used his ‘stick men’ style when replicating his techniques using paint and charcoal!🖌🎨

Yesterday we made a nutritious soup in DT. We had to use our safe chopping skills and then made the soup!

We have started our next focus today, ‘Can we survive without food?’ We sorted a variety of food into the correct food groups. We discussed the importance of a healthy balanced diet
