This one seems to be holding up--it'll be fun to watch the district and union explain how they're fighting for kids as we go into the 3rd school year with part time school. #OAKEDU
@OUSDNews should also be upfront with families about the likelihood of a teacher's strike next year. When does the @OaklandEA contract expire? December? Imagine begging to get kids back into the classrooms in August and the teacher's walk out in January. #OAKEDU
Important statement from the CDC.
Please share widely to counter the overblown fear about the risk of Covid to unvaccinated kids.

Lots of @ousdnews teachers worked hard in the pandemic and didn't like distance learning and said they'd rather be back in the classroom, but did nothing to make that happen and stood by while their @OaklandEA leaders argued against going back. #OAKEDU

"I would love to be back teaching in person, but....." when millions of students and teachers are already doing it is like the @WeAreCTA version of a toddler explaining why they won't pick up their toys. #OAKEDU
1/ Three million. That's the estimate of how many children have dropped out of school as a result of the pandemic. To see in slow motion what it's like when a child falls behind, @tamirbenkalifa & I spent a week with 11-year-old Jordyn as he tried to learn https://t.co/bdQVo6SQBN
@Ish_the_Dish Oh, the data definitely supports that. You fought hard for a 2.5 hour return to in-person which is impossible for working class people to support, and then wrap it in the flag of equity. That didn't harm the yoga mom set. Shame on your union. #OAKEDU
You were set up to fail, let it happen, and then are offended when parents point it out and try to prevent it from continuing into the 21-22 school year. So A for effort this Teacher Appreciation week in OUSD.
It can be true that you as a teacher worked hard and tried your best had a stressful year, and still didn't do a good job of educating students. The district screwed up a lot of this, you're right to be angry at them, but your union did you no favors.
@journal_well @LibbySchaaf@LibbySchaaf should not have remained silent as @OUSDNews descended into permanent lockdown. It's setup to be one of the few school districts that won't return to full time learning in the fall, and the silence of #Oakland elected officials is deafening.
Other orgs picking up the slack for @OUSDNews. These are also great summer jobs for teachers, so if your kid didn't meet their teacher in person this year, maybe this is their chance! #OAKEDU
Oakland parents, are you worried about learning loss? To help students playing catch-up after a year of online learning, @Oaklandside compiled a list of local organizations offering free academic support. https://t.co/OKWRr3LpZE #OakEdu
@OUSD_Parents@OaklandEA@OUSDNews Iโd like to hear this โKids will be required to come back to school 5 full days. Virtual option will be granted only if a family demonstrates a need for it. There will be no hybrid, no concurrent teaching, no zoom in a room.โ
Q: What do all the people in this photo have in common?
A: None of them have seen a student in person in the 2020-2021 school year. #OAKEDU@Ish_the_Dish@keithdashawn
