I asked Manfred how many other teams besides the A’s filed complaints about the Astros and he said it’s hard to say; he recalls the A’s complaint specifically. Emphasizes there were complaints about other teams, too.
"In a perfect world, they would have been punished."
Rob Manfred explains why he didn't strip the Astros of their World Series title or punish the players https://t.co/1LHddWIKV2
@Mania715@natssummoner@MarkZuckerman It’s unforgivable. Especially because those were all fringe guys who worked honestly and fairly to stay in the big leagues. Making the big leagues is hard, but staying is harder. They know this now more than anyone else.
Hadn’t thought about this before, but Sean Doolittle was still with the A’s through the first half of 2017. He faced the Astros 5 times that year and they had a 1.044 OPS vs him. He only blew 2 saves (1 to HOU). He only gave up 5 homers (2 to HOU).
A collective thank you for the birthday wishes today. Hard to believe year number 25 with @Athletics will begin in just over 3 weeks. Never would have made it without the incredible support of A’s fans. It means the world to all of us on A’s radio.
Arguing that a pitcher was sOoOoOo bad that your team wasn’t responsible for him being DFA’d is also arguing that your team still cheated even when they absolutely didn’t need to. You’re not saying what you think you’re saying.
The thing they don’t tell you about winning the World Series is that you will forget to take a single photo so you’ll have to rely on your dad and his flip phone to capture the celebration. No complaints. Congratulations 2019 @Nationals ❤️💙
