Renewed Hope, Delivered: Three Years of the Tinubu @officialABAT Administration
By Mohammed Idris
Today marks the third anniversary of the inauguration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and an opportunity to reflect on the very concrete achievements of the Renewed Hope agenda – a comprehensive eight-point vision designed to touch the lives of every Nigerian and reposition our country.
The agenda – spanning energy and natural resources, agriculture, national security, macroeconomic reform, infrastructure, human capital, economic diversification, and improved governance and public service delivery – is both strategic and comprehensive, ensuring that no one is left out.
On this third anniversary we are very proud to affirm that President Tinubu has kept faith with the Nigerian people on all counts.
We have an economy that has grown to ₦441.5 trillion in 2025, up from ₦309.5 trillion in 2023. Inflation has more than halved – from the 34.80% recorded in December 2024 to 15.69% in April 2026. Nigeria's non-oil exports surged to $6.1 billion in 2025, an 11.5% increase over 2024; while Federation tax revenue collection rose from ₦19.9 trillion in 2023 to ₦28.3 trillion in 2025.
Monthly disbursements by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) have doubled to over ₦2 trillion, from less than ₦1 trillion in 2023, while foreign capital inflows have grown nearly 90% – from $12.32 billion in 2024 to $23.22 billion in 2025. External reserves have this year hit a thirteen-year high of $50 billion.
Under President Tinubu, the Nigerian Exchange Group's All Share Index (ASI) has surpassed the 250,000 mark – up from 55,000 in May 2023. Equity market capitalisation is up five-fold, to ₦160 trillion.
Oil and gas continue to be a mainstay of our national economy, even as we pursue diversification and grow our non-oil exports and revenues. Our oil production increased by 400,000 barrels per day between 2023 and 2025, delivering the highest onshore production level in 20 years. In 2024 and 2025, Nigeria captured 40% of the value of Africa's upstream petroleum final investment decisions (FIDs), amounting to over $8 billion.
In the midstream petroleum sector, the Presidential CNG and Electric Vehicle initiative has mobilised over $2 billion in public and private investments, creating tens of thousands of new jobs while providing transport relief to hundreds of thousands of Nigerian commuters and households.
The National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has now benefited over 1.5 million students across 301 institutions, disbursing close to ₦300 billion in student loans and upkeep allowances.
In 2025, Nigeria formally exited the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, marking a new era in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
Looking at where Nigeria stood when President Tinubu came into office, and where it stands today, there is no doubt that carefully designed reforms have helped the country navigate one of the most challenging eras in its history. We have resolved the previously intractable fuel subsidy problem, brought our tax laws into the 21st century, and built a more transparent and accountable fiscal architecture.
A new and enhanced chapter of cooperation with the United States and other partners is delivering significant security gains. Just a few weeks ago, this collaboration helped neutralise one of the most wanted terrorists in the world.
There is still so much to be done, especially in the area of security, which is why it has been one of the biggest areas of recent focus for the President. In addition to investments that will strengthen security and intelligence capabilities, welfare and morale, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to be the Nigerian President who accomplishes the long-awaited fundamental restructuring of Nigeria's security architecture at its very roots.
One of the most practical manifestations of this reform is the establishment and implementation of State Police – reordering a longstanding system so that the security and safety of our communities emerges organically from within, instead of being imposed from far away.
In August 2023, President Tinubu handed me a mandate as Nigeria's Minister overseeing the information and national orientation portfolio. We have worked very hard to advance the Ministry's priorities: restoring credibility to public communications, amplifying the government's policies and programmes, putting our national values back on the national agenda, creating a more enabling environment for the media industry, and modernising technology and talent in our public information systems.
Last November Nigeria received the formal affirmation from UNESCO to host a first-of-its-kind International Media and Information Literacy Institute in Abuja. And next month, we will usher in one of the biggest technology leaps ever seen by Nigeria's broadcast industry – the completion of the long-delayed transition from analogue to digital.
Through partnership and dedication, we have successfully leveraged satellite technology to break a decades-long jinx, and Nigerians will see the impact on their television screens starting next month: a surge in the quality of content, transmission, and competition.
There is much more to highlight than space will permit, but the message is clear and irrefutable: President Tinubu and his administration have boldly confronted Nigeria's toughest challenges, and the country is emerging victorious on all fronts.
We will not slow down or rest – instead we will double down to advance the gains until they cannot be reversed or undone.
Mohammed Idris, fnipr, is Nigeria's Minister of Information and National Orientation.

FMINO @FMINONigeria PRESS RELEASE
World Press Freedom Day: FG Calls for Collaboration to Address Disinformation, Misinformation
The Federal Government has called for stronger collaboration among the media, government institutions, and other stakeholders to address the growing threat of disinformation and misinformation, stressing that collective action is essential to protect public trust and national stability.
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Monday in Abuja at the 2026 World Press Freedom Day commemoration held at Radio House.
“This administration has prioritised collaboration with media stakeholders and international partners to promote responsible journalism, counter disinformation and misinformation," said the Minister.
He described press freedom as a fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution, noting that the Federal Government remains fully committed to its protection. “The Federal Government fully recognises press freedom as a fundamental right and remains committed to fostering an environment where the media can operate freely, safely, and responsibly, in accordance with democratic principles and the rule of law,” he stated.
Idris noted that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken deliberate steps to strengthen transparency and access to information through sustained media engagement, implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, and investment in public communication platforms.
He further pointed to Nigeria’s partnership with UNESCO in establishing the International Media and Information Literacy Institute (IMILI) in Abuja as a key step towards building a more informed and discerning public. “This pioneering initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening media and information literacy, empowering citizens to engage with information critically, and promoting responsible communication in the digital age.”
The Minister urged journalists to uphold professionalism, fairness, and ethical standards in their work, stressing that press freedom must go hand in hand with responsibility. “The true test of press freedom lies not in our declarations, but in our actions, how safely journalists can do their work, how truthfully information is shared, and how responsibly it is consumed,” he said.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Binyerem Ukaire, described the event as a critical platform for strengthening collaboration across institutions.
“This gathering reflects our shared commitment to strengthening press freedom and fostering a more informed and inclusive society. It provides an opportunity for constructive engagement on how best to advance a media environment that is both free and responsible,” she said.
Ukaire emphasised the need for coordinated responses to the challenges posed by the evolving information ecosystem, particularly the spread of misinformation. “The expansion of digital platforms has introduced new complexities that require coordinated institutional responses, especially in addressing misinformation and strengthening public trust,” she noted.
She added that the Ministry remains committed to facilitating dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and promoting professionalism within the media space.

FMINO PRESS RELEASE
PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT CRITICAL TO CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU’S DRIVE FOR PUBLIC SERVICE ACCOUNTABILITY, SAYS INFORMATION MINISTER
The Federal Government has emphasised that public enlightenment is central to the success of the Code of Conduct Bureau’s mandate in promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical standards in Nigeria’s public service.
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, fnipr, stated this during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello, FCCA, CFC, and his delegation to the Ministry in Abuja, where he reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration in the fight against corruption.
The Minister emphasised the critical role of public enlightenment in preventing corruption and unethical conduct in the public service, noting that awareness remains a key pillar of effective governance. “Many public servants in this country do not know so much about the Code of Conduct Bureau beyond asset declaration; this must change through sustained public enlightenment,” he stated.
He underscored the preventive mandate of the Bureau, stressing that its role goes beyond enforcement to stopping infractions before they occur. “The Code of Conduct Bureau is not about arresting people after offences are committed; its primary duty is to prevent those infractions from happening in the first place,” he said.
The Minister further called for sustained institutional collaboration, noting that continuous engagement is essential to achieving lasting impact. “This engagement should not be a one-off event; it must be sustained to deepen awareness, strengthen institutions, and promote ethical conduct in public service,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of synergy between enforcement and communication, the Minister stated that awareness and enforcement must work together to achieve meaningful compliance.
“Enforcement and awareness must go hand in hand; without awareness, enforcement alone will not stop unethical conduct,” he noted.
He assured the Bureau of the Ministry’s full support, stating that all its agencies will be deployed to amplify the activities of the CCB and promote accountability across government institutions.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello FCCA, CFC, highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration with the Ministry, particularly in driving public sensitisation and strengthening ethical standards in governance.
“CCB is not only an enforcement agency; we are primarily a preventive organisation committed to ensuring that public servants do not engage in corrupt practices in the first place,” he said.
The Chairman noted that the Bureau is seeking partnership with the Ministry in areas such as nationwide sensitisation campaigns, media engagement, capacity building for public officers, and dissemination of its activities to enhance public awareness.
Dr Bello added that by leveraging the Ministry’s communication platforms, the Bureau would significantly improve compliance with asset declaration requirements and promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service.
Those in attendance were; the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam; Executive Secretary of Nigeria Press Council, Dr. Dili Ezughah; Special Assistant Administration, Dr. Sunday Baba; Deputy Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Miss Sade Fatoke; Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello FCCA CFC; Board Member, Hon. Abdulsalam Olawale; Director, Mr. Jimoh Alabi; Board Member, Prof. Jwariya Badamasiuy; and many other dignitaries.

Nigerian Security Agencies Working Around the Clock to Ensure Safety of Citizens, Information Minister tells BBC
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that its security agencies are working around the clock to ensure the safety of citizens, whilst taking deliberate and sustained steps to strengthen security across the country, with a clear focus on protecting lives and property and preventing further attacks.
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave this assurance in an interview with the BBC’s Victoria Uwonkunda, published via YouTube, yesterday at https://t.co/S38mYwQ0wK, where he addressed the role of intelligence services following recent security concerns, including the attack in Maiduguri.
Idris tacitly rejected the notion of a failure on the part of the Nigeria’s security agencies, saying, “I don’t think they failed. I think that more work needs to be done. Nigerian security agencies are working around the clock to ensure that this does not happen again,” adding, that Maiduguri had recorded significant improvements in peace and stability over time.
“The government is putting a lot of attention. The reform agenda of the President is aimed at ensuring that Nigerians are safe and that this does not happen again,” he further stated.
On global developments, particularly tensions in the Middle East and their potential impact on Nigeria, Idris emphasised Nigeria’s readiness to support global stability, especially in the energy sector. “Nigeria is ever ready to contribute to energy security around the world. Whatever Nigeria can do to ease tension, it will do. The world needs oil, and Nigeria is there,” he stated.
Speaking on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing engagements abroad, Idris described the visit as significant for Nigeria’s international relations. “This visit underscores the historical relationship, the cultural ties, and the economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. We hope that we will deepen it further in the interest of both countries,” he said.
The Minister further highlighted the positive impact of the administration’s reforms, noting that they are already improving Nigeria’s global standing. “With the reforms that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instituted, we have seen a significant uplift in the economy,” positing that “the invitation extended to the President reflects how positively these reforms are being viewed globally.”
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to sustaining reforms, strengthening security, and ensuring that Nigerians can live and work in safety, while also positioning the country as a responsible and reliable partner on the global stage.

As we celebrate Eid today, may this sacred occasion renew our faith, strengthen our unity, and inspire compassion across our nation. May our homes be filled with blessings, and may Nigeria continue to rise in harmony and hope. Eid Mubarak.
It was my pleasure to, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, meet beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) @N_DeltaAmnesty who are studying in the United Kingdom. Also in attendance was my colleague the Hon. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), @senlokpobiri.
It is very heartwarming to witness the impact of the program first hand and interact with beneficiaries.
The President’s desire is to ensure that all Nigerians, including and especially the youth, are given the right opportunity to thrive and to contribute meaningfully to development of the country.
Once upon a time, the story of the Niger Delta was one of deprivation, degradation and disorder. Today, through initiatives like the PAP and others, that story has changed for the better.
The Programme Administrator, Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, informed me that there are over 8,000 students studying in Nigeria at the moment, and over 220 undergoing various studies in the UK.
I personally think the PAP is one of the best programmes Nigeria has ever delivered, and the Tinubu Administration has done and is still doing a lot to reposition and strengthen it.
I was at the BBC headquarters in London this afternoon for an interview. We talked about the historic state visit, Nigeria’s relationship with the UK, and also issues relating to security, economy, and geopolitics. Stay tuned.
I received a delegation from WhiteInk Institute for Strategy Education and Research (WISER), led by the President and Founder, Brig. Gen. Saleh Bala (Rtd), on a courtesy visit at @FMINONigeria HQ today.
They’re carrying our invaluable work in knowledge-building and capacity-building in Nigeria and beyond, and at FMINO we’re very much welcoming of beneficial partnerships such as this.
