I received a phone call from Mr Peter Obi and am deeply grateful for the words of encouragement from His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, in appreciation of our 65 Free Adenotonsillectomy and ENT Surgery Initiative, organized to mark his birthday and give back to our country, Nigeria.

As of today, we have screened over 50 patients, categorizing them into surgical and non-surgical cases while also managing other medical conditions where necessary.

What has been particularly inspiring is that beneficiaries have come not only from different parts of Lagos but also from Benin, Awka, Enugu, and Owerri. This reminds us that disease knows no boundaries, and quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live.

Surgeries for the selected patients will commence this week, and beneficiaries will be contacted through the phone number previously used to reach them.

Tomorrow is the final day of the free screening, which ends at 4:00 p.m.

Happy birthday to the man who fought another lecturer who wanted sex over my hard work as a student. A lecturer boldly failed me because I refused a visit. He was known for it. I was in 200 level then. I saw the disappointment on my professor's face because this was someone he helped.

When the information got to my professor, he took immediate action.

On the agreed date for the hearing, I got into the room with my previous results on the table. All I heard was, "It cannot be Blessing. Dr, something is wrong. She wrote all of these in the past. She is diligent. It can't be my daughter. Dismiss this."

Although it was too late for the portal to change the verdict online, I am glad my innocence was proven. All my scripts magically reappeared. And the next generation after me has not had to deal with such an element. I saw my script. I did not fail, as written by the man who lacks self-discipline.

I have not forgotten how you stood up for me, Sir. You made sure whoever did this paid heavily for it. It is 5 years after graduation but everything is still new in my heart.

Professor Modo gave me access to his library. He encouraged me to be steadfast. He has not forgotten me. He spoke to me early this year and told me to further my studies since I am well now.

Throughout the time I was sick, he was always talking to me. He would say, "When you are ready, go to this institution and tell XYZ that you are from me."

Thank you, my amiable Professor Innocent Modo. You stood up for so many. You shielded many with school fees and feeding money. I witnessed it as a student then. May God keep shielding you, Sir.

This morning, after my 10 km run, my wife, my father, my brothers, cousins and in-laws gathered for breakfast to celebrate my birthday.

It felt good to sit with family, surrounded by love and hopeful for the future.

My father, Ogbueshi, prayed for me and for all of us. A remarkable man, he has committed many of the Psalms of David to memory. Even now, at the age of 100, he still wakes around 4 a.m. each day to memorise Scripture.

As he prayed that we would all live longer than him, he recited the entire Psalm 51 from memory:

"Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions."

Those are the opening words of a Psalm he knows in full by heart. Listening to him was both humbling and inspiring. It reminded me that a long life is sustained not only by good health, but also by faith, discipline and God's abundant mercy.

I thank God for the gift of another year, and for the blessing of a father whose life continues to teach us all.
