@MichaelsCoDub VAT is added after the cost is calculated. Higher VAT = higher price for the customer. It might not be *the* answer to saving businesses and other options might be needed but saying that it would be useless when it was the only option on the table isn’t right.

@MichaelsCoDub your lower margin items. Those of us in small rural towns can only charge so much for breakfast or lunch. Would you pay €20 for a full Irish? Unlikely. The VAT reduction could help bridge the gap so we don’t have to keep increasing our prices to ridiculous amounts.

@sidkearney @adriancummins Remember this affects small businesses a lot more than any of the big guys. It’s had the biggest impact on those with the smallest profit margin. You might not like to hear it but in order for a business to continue or be successful they have to make a profit.

@adriancummins @simoncoveney @HMcEntee @nealerichmond What’s also frustrating is that the work permit is valid from the date of approval even though the chef isn’t in 🇮🇪 or begin working until much later. I had a permit granted in Sept but the chef won’t be here until Jan meaning the work permit isn’t actually valid for 2 years !
