@agreenercanadaa @Let_Us_Breathe1 Another not so fun fact: It would take a little more than half a tree to make a carton (10 reams) of 100 percent, non-recycled 20-lb. copier paper.
plastic also ends up in oceans, lakes, rivers etc somehow, it is usually dumped by landfill companies who do not have space left to keep it, plastic in our large bodies of water causes living life forms in the water to die!
Aquatic ecosystem are impacted the most in mining. This is because Waste from mining operations is dumped into lakes and rivers, killing the plant and animal life living there.
110,000 Marine creature’s and birds are killed EVERY year because of our insatiable desire for one deadly material: plastic.
It’s unnecessary to keep mass producing plastic when the effects are so evidently destructive.
If you agree, then take @Authors4Oceans plastic pledge.
Chemicals used in plastic get washed into the rivers and are carried into the ocean. These chemicals do not get dissolved and sink at the bottom of the ocean. Small animals ingest these chemicals and are later eaten by large animals, which then affects the whole food chain.
Cleaning up is good practice, but it's not enough. #MarineLitter & plastics harm marine life & endanger our own health. The int'l community know we must act now. World ocean champions will make their pledges to end marine pollution at @ourocean2018 in Bali next month #OurOcean
Plastic cigarette wrapper found in jellyfish. “The still legible label is a reminder that plastics are everywhere.” #plasticpollution

Pollution can directly kill or harm fish, or change the makeup of the fish' surroundings, killing off sources of food or causing plant or algae overgrowth that starve the fish of oxygen.
Pollution also affects mankind! If humans are exposed to these toxic chemicals for long periods of time, this can result in dangerous health problems, which include hormonal issues, reproductive issues, and damage to our nervous systems and kidneys
Coral reefs are being affected by marine pollution. Plastic debris can cut open corals' delicate skin, exposing them to infection. pollutants also enter the water and smother coral reefs. They impede coral growth and reproduction, and cause changes in food structure on the reef
Pollution is a huge problem for The Great Lakes! When it rains litter on roads and gutters will be washed down the drains to stormwater pipes and eventually out to the lakes. We have a simple solution which can help the 1000's of tonnes of plastic entering waterways every year!
