MUST SEE: Journalist @MaxBlumenthal confronts Antony Blinken about Israel's genocide
“300 reporters in Gaza were on the receiving end of your bombs…”
“Why did you keep the bombs flowing when we had a deal in May?…”
“Why did you allow the holocaust of our time to happen??…”
One major problem in the world is western exceptionalism: the belief that the western powers are somehow more moral than other nation states.
This is based on literally nothing but propaganda. An objective analysis of which groups have committed the gravest of crimes against humanity would always — and without exception — put the crimes of Europeans, and later their American offspring, as the worst.
What the Europeans did in both of the Americas, Africa, Asia, Oceania and even on European soil, is unmatched in its inhumanity and impact. And this is not some ancient relic of a bygone era: the US and its European counterparts are still massacring innocent children now, today, as you read this, at unprecedented rates.
Yet western liberals somehow think they live in an enlightened society — just because they’re told they do. They’re told these crimes are ‘of the past’ while they’re fed ideas like equality, democracy, liberty and rule of law as these pillars of virtue that prop up the current society within which they live, but every single one of them is a barefaced lie that takes the tiniest of digging to reveal.
We live in a swamp wrapped in silk: a society built on death and fed with more death every single day, yet we’re told it’s some beacon of virtue because that death mostly occurs elsewhere.
And the cognitive dissonance between this collection of lies and the reality that betrays them is reaching record levels. We are at a point where it requires active participation for the lie to continue: where those who think this charade is ‘ok’ are actively deluding themselves, either out of prejudice towards those currently it’s primary victims, in the vain hopes this evil won’t come home to roost (but it already is, if you look close enough); or cowardice in being too afraid to face the dark truth of the matter.
Hatred or cowardice: that’s the only way you can continue to lie to yourself about the corruption and death at the heart of western society.
James Baldwin: "All the western nations are caught in a lie, the lie of their pretended humanism: this means that their history has no moral justification, and that the West has no moral authority."
And I believe that, until this giant lie is revealed at scale and properly addressed, the world will never know peace — how can it, when we’re too afraid to confront reality?
The work that needs done is in the belly of the beast, the head of the snake, the heart of darkness. And until we can secure a western society entirely free from imperialism, colonialism and forever wars for resources and profit, we are and will remain utterly lost, skipping from crisis to crisis with human suffering untold.
