The Prisons Farms Fund has been wound up vide Legal Notice 75 of 2026.
Govt will now establish the Prisons Enterprise Fund, merge the farms and industries into one fund. This fund will be run by a CEO. Govt is also seeking Ksh 4B from a private investor as seed capital.

INTEL: Reports reaching me indicate that logging activity may be taking place around Lembus and Narasha forests in the Eldama Ravine area, with concerns that timber is being moved out using lorries travelling in convoy.

After increasing taxes on containers, KRA is now frustrating motor vehicle importers by suddenly demanding export declarations that many importers simply do not have because this was not previously required.

Yesterday, no motor vehicles were released at the Port of Mombasa and CFSs because of these new demands, yet importers had already paid all the required taxes and duties.

Now the same importers are being forced to pay additional storage charges and customs warehouse rent every single day while their vehicles remain stuck over documents being demanded after the fact.

What exactly does this government want from importers? If taxes and duties have already been paid, why hold vehicles over requirements that were not communicated earlier?

You cannot keep changing the rules in the middle of the game and then claim you want to reduce the cost of doing business in Kenya.

When Companies make decisions about where to put their investments, the dispute resolution regime in place is key because disputes arise all the time. The “Mambo Matatu, pack and go” approach where the President can just shut down your business is very bad for investment and consequently, job creation. I knew it was a matter of time this anti-immigrant politics would come to Kenya. Kenya never misses to copy the bad habits of other countries. But what non-Kenyans need to know is that it's a popularity stunt after smale scale traders led a huge demonstration against taxation hike last week. If the President can wake up, issue an order and unilaterally change a tax/customs measure whenever the political heat becomes unbearable, what exactly are MPs being paid to legislate?

Parliament debates, passes laws and scrutinises taxation. The Executive implements them. It cannot become a one-man legislature whenever the optics are bad.

You cannot run a constitutional democracy like a WhatsApp group where the admin changes the rules whenever members start complaining.

If Ruto can make the policy, reverse it, amend it and announce the new figure from a podium, then Parliament is merely providing expensive background scenery.
