New: Mamdani is expected to appoint Jahmila Edwards, a top official in NYC's DC 37 union, as his intergovernmental relations head, per sources.
DC 37 was an early Mamdani supporter, ranking him No. 2 in its endorsement chart for June's mayoral primary. https://t.co/qUQr3v4wKe
Got to join @errollouis tonight on @InsideCityHall to talk about the housing crisis and how we can solve it by creating good jobs and building truly affordable housing.
NEW: @DC37nyc is suing @NYCMayor over budget cuts - the latest political setback for a mayor who won in 2021 w/ strong labor support. Scoop-master @joeanuta w/ the info:

We are disappointed that @JustinBrannan has decided to join a bill that takes away the fundamental right of workers to negotiate their healthcare. Perhaps as Chair of the Council Finance Committee, CM Brannan can show us how he intends to fund the $600M annual cost of Int. 1099.
Yep, worth noting that the city’s progressive movement didn’t get behind Salaam. No WFP, no Progressive Caucus council members, no Jumaane Williams, Brad Lander, etc.
I am a son of Harlem named Yusef Salaam. I went to prison because my name is Yusef Salaam. People looked at me funny because my name is Yusef Salaam. I am proud to be named Yusef Salaam. I am born here, raised here & of here - but even if I wasn’t, we all belong in New York City.
Many open @DC37nyc jobs are revenue generating positions. Back in 2019 Henry & I wrote about 3 ways NYC could generate more $ AND savings w/o needing reducing workforce or the vital services NYC provides. Still holds true today, perhaps more than ever. https://t.co/QJNGKNQeih
Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been "FLOXED," it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love. -Mary Caldwell
NEW: Nurses at Mount Sinai Morningside and West reach tentative agreement.
Negotiations and Jan. 9 strike plans continue for ~3,625 @MontefioreNYC Bronx nurses and ~3,500 @MountSinaiNYC Hospital nurses.

Approx. 17k NYSNA nurses at 12 NYC private sector hospitals have union contracts expiring on Dec. 31. However, management continues to resist when it comes to safe staffing, fair wages & maintaining quality health benefits.
That’s why nurses have begun strike vote authorization.
We're proud to support these pro-union candidates for U.S. House and State Senate in the August 23 Democratic Primary Election. This is a critical time for labor, and we need legislators who will fight for the working class.

✊ DC 37 is in the field today doorknocking across the city for candidates who support workers, our families and our rights. Check out who we’ve endorsed in your area here: https://t.co/3aeCli1Yhq

Personal news. This is my last week at @32BJSEIU after 7 amazing years of electoral wins and so many victories for building service workers. The biggest thanks to @kyle32bj and @CandisLynnT for their leadership and support. Stay tuned for exciting updates on what’s next #1u 💜💛
