Javascript, Python, web and stuff. Building bicycle for your mind (or notepad db) @tana_inc 🎉. Prev at @Whereby @hola_org @Opera.

@nicolasalibrt@tana_inc On Android you kinda-can (not really though). But you can have a stack of many widgets on top of each-other. B-)
The actual widget doesn't look as nice as on Ios tho'.
Mobile update time!
Capturing notes on mobile took too many steps. Open app, pick mode, pick type, pick tag, pick destination...
We just made it one tap. 👆
Widgets for Tana mobile are here. 🧵
Finally. Offline is out. This took a long time and a lot of tedious issues to get to the end. This time the last 20% took 8x the effort of the first 80%. 😭
Announcing Tana offline 🔌🎉
(just in time to go off-grid this weekend!)
We're super excited to launch our most-requested feature, offline mode! Not “select which pages to download” offline. Full knowledge graph offline.
Whether you are AWS's US-EAST-1 server or a knowledge worker reliant on Aussie broadband, sometimes you just need to disconnect 🔌
🧵 So here’s the quick what’s-what on working offline:
We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.
The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.
This week has been incredible!
The first version of Tana is finally live and open to the world. Thanks to everyone who made this possible! (we tried to tag most of you below 🫶)
Still wonder what Tana is? It's the future of work—helping forward-thinking professionals stay on top of everything without the busywork. This is what the future of work looks like 👇📽️
🚀 Hello world!
Tana just launched for everyone and is now live on Product Hunt! Check us out, give us your support, and tell us what you think. Link below! 👇
I seriously need to get away from Ubuntu. This snap-infection is slowing taking over. I've installed Firefox from the Mozilla APT repos, and had uninstalled Ubuntu's Snap package (I'm not a fan).
Today I had two Firefoxes as Ubuntu had decided to install the Snap again!(?) :-<
🚨 TANA ENTERING OPEN BETA 🚨
What @tana_inc is (softly... 😉) launching today is amazing – it's a revolutionary way of integrating AI into your work.
Below is a short teaser of my full video on "Tana Core" – need to finish some editing, will release next week.
Enjoy!
@githubstatus It looks like you're having some performance issues with Github Actions re-running. I pressed 'rerun failed' and it's been 5 minutes having only filled in some of the old jobs.
Also got a unicorn 'this is taking long' crash.
@mairin I feel overwhelmed too, I tend to overcomplicate. I bought the NAS to not have to sysadmin everything manually anymore. It's been nice.
Took some weeks(!) to auto sync everything from my server using Syncthing.
That's been my new upgrade strategy: just have 2+, wipe + resync.
@mairin Would be very interesting to hear what you figure out. I've never been happy about backup-things. Though many-way sync has been how I've dealt many years now (mostly Unison, but recently switched to Syncthing).
Found someone looking into Borg vs restic: https://t.co/3TAM4BRKu7
@mairin I also have a second NAS that I'm not really using, and when I turn that on, it will sync to the first NAS, and I turn it off again.
That has some added protection.
Ah. I also have `rustic` set to send my documents folder to Backblaze from the server.
The fact that Russia can still buy practically all military tech components from European companies to keep bombing Ukraine into rubble is a clear signal for me: most Europeans still don’t understand the threat we’re all up against.

🎉 Hello, Tana Publish: Pages!
[REDACTED] no more! Finally you can share your Tana content as beautiful digital pages!
Pages is our first step into making your Tana content sharable with your chosen audience.
As floods & fires rise, oceans boil & ice melts, and "safe" temperatures are breached, something momentous just happened in the heart of the EU. No one has heard about it: journalists were present, but their editors refused to publish 🤯.
🧵, please RT.

@monicalimco@evielync @MarkModesti Here Stian is summarizing a whole book -> https://t.co/9ExFjGa0T9
That shows another way to divide+conquer a big context and distill it down.
In this video (25 min), I show how you can fetch the text of a website, send it in chunks to OpenAI to extract relevant information, and then summarize. I then publish this general approach as a template that anyone can install. https://t.co/KdC7jIFCrL
@monicalimco@evielync @MarkModesti More advanced context-based AI lookup is to have all your data in some vector search database.
Allowing searches like:
"desserts I like"
To return results results like:
- I ate ice cream with my daughter today, it was really nice
Post results + question to AI to summarize.
