I’ve watched to the story of Nick Imudia and one thing stood out to me: brilliance in business does not automatically translate to strength in personal judgment.
From everything that has come out, he appears to have allowed himself to be manipulated, emotionally cornered and financially exploited by these women around him. That combination of pressure, silence and poor legal advisory ultimately destroyed him.
It is a tragic story. A man can build companies, lead teams, command boardrooms and still collapse privately if he loses control of his personal life and mental resilience.
The Bar has spoken, and the message is clear: A new chapter begins for the Law Society of Kenya - grounded in discipline, legitimacy and the will of the membership.
The will of the membership is supreme.
I am humbled to lead this great Society and look forward to working with the incoming Council to protect our members and defend the Rule of Law.
What HR asks for = Payslip
What HR actually wants = Supporting data about your value
So instead of reacting with "red flag" or "I know my worth", take a breath & handle it like a pro. Here's how:
Try this instead:
"I’ve signed an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement ) with my current company so I can’t share my payslip, but I’d be happy to provide alternative documents to help assess my value"
That’s how professionals talk. Not defensive, not dismissive, just clear & respectful.
Here are solid alternatives you can offer instead of a payslip:
✅ Confirmation/Promotion Letter
• Shows your position, title progression & trust gained over time
✅ Retirement Contribution Statement
• A great non-sensitive indicator of monthly income
• NSSF (Kenya, Uganda) ,RSA (Nigeria) , Social Security, Pension Contributions
✅ Portfolio + Job Description
• Includes key responsibilities, KPIs & real contributions
✅ Letter of Recommendation (with role/title mentioned)
• Especially impactful if it comes from a direct supervisor
These give HR confidence to recommend you without needing your payslip. It also shows your initiative & transparency.
You are never obligated to share your payslip. But rejecting professionally (and offering alternatives) builds trust & gives HR the data they need, while keeping your privacy intact.
When you show maturity, clarity & class, your attitude becomes your strongest offer. Let HR see that!

It is not every day that one breaks bread with a legend. Last night I had the rare privilege of sharing dinner with Mahmood Mamdani, Colombia University, a global Africanist of uncommon intellectual gravity, on the eve of the launch of his latest book, Slow Poison, today, 23 Jan 2026, at Jain Bhavan Auditorium.
The Lonely End of a Good Man
Men,
It’s Christmas again.
Another year you buy happiness you’re not invited to feel.
You pay for the trips you don’t enjoy.
You fund smiles that never turn back to you.
You hold everything up while quietly falling apart.
You’re not loved. You’re useful.
You’re not missed. You’re expected.
Your value is measured by receipts, not by your presence.
You sit at the table but no one asks if you’re okay.
You’re in the photos but never in the memories.
If you stopped paying, everything would stop.
If you stopped breathing, life would simply reorganize.
You tell yourself “this is what a man does.”
So you swallow the loneliness.
You numb the resentment.
You keep showing up for people who stopped seeing you years ago.
And one day it hits you.
Not with drama.
Not with a fight.
Just a cold, quiet realization:
You gave everyone a life.
You lost your own.
That’s how good men disappear.
Not because they were weak.
But because they were needed more than they were loved.
Merry Christmas.
The lonely end of a good man.
@georgediano Loyalty is the rarest currency in politics. Everyone swears allegiance when the sun shines, but true colors show when the storm hits.
What Baba faced wasn’t just political loss, it was human betrayal in its purest form.
Just like they do for American Presidents, we need presidential libraries for our presidents (Kenyatta, Moi, Kibaki, Uhuru, Ruto...et al) and Prime ministers (Raila) to house all primary and secondary literature on their tenure and history. Our history both good and ugly must be preserved for posterity.
🇰🇪 Leadership Transition:
Ms. Severine Luyali has assumed the role of Chief of Protocol at the State Department for Foreign Affairs. She takes over from Ambassador Henry Wambuma who proceeds to Burundi as Kenya’s ambassador.
Ms. Luyali is a seasoned diplomat with 25 years of experience at the Ministry having served in various capacities. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of institutional structures, a strong dedication to international engagement, and a profound understanding of diplomatic protocol.
Mr Samson Koech, the Deputy Chief of Protocol for the department, conveyed his appreciation to Amb. Wambuma for his committed service. He also assured Ms. Luyali of his complete support as she assumes her new responsibilities.
It's sad to hear of the DEATH of Hon. RAILA ODINGA. A colossus has fallen. His life was a long dialogue between power and principle, a journey of courage, conviction, and sacrifice. His voice may fall silent, but his echo will linger in the moral corridors of our nation. #RailaOdinga #Kenya
Two noticeable things;
1. Azimio TV @AzimioTv is a blockbuster. It has taken over this space and become more reliable than mainstream TV. And its access to exclusive content and spaces is mind boggling.
2. Sam Gituku @SamGituku is a brilliant news man. His story is interesting. He was on assignment in Kisumu for a week, getting ready to depart on Wednesday morning, when he was asked to abort mission and head straight to Bondo, because the Rt Hon Raila Odinga had just died.
Since then, Gituku has been reporting day and night from both Opoda Farm and Nyamira Kang'o ka Jaramogi. He moves around with a translator, who picks up all the sights and sounds, and explains to Gituku. The latter's subsequent reporting has been top notch.
Usually, Luo funerals are covered by know-it-all reporters who misinterprete the intricate customs and culture attendant to them. But Gituku has done this with utmost class, even admitting to learning in the process. His translated reporting is precise. His coverage impeccable. His sense of presence around delicate funeral matters very admirable. And he remains tireless, day and night.
Absolute class.
On the sidelines of a documentary series that’s coming up, I asked Equity Group CEO - Dr. James Mwangi - a personal question. Quickly turned into a lesson on how a number of people on the continent are changing the way the world thinks. 💡
Yesterday, I sold a whole life insurance cover to a 45-year-old lady.
Her words during our conversation have stuck with me and thought I would share the same.
Here’s what she told me when I asked her why she really wanted to take up the whole life cover👇👇
Foods that people with Diabetes should NOT eat:
• Sugar
• Honey
• Fruits & Juices
• Energy drinks
• Wheat and maize flour
• Rice and Cassava
• Irish Potatoes
• Milk
• Plant milk, eg, soy and almond
• Processed meats
• Noodles
• Seed oils
But if you go to a medical ward, you will see patients with diabetes drinking milk, tea, and bread.
At lunchtime, you will see them eating rice and gulping fruit juices brought by relatives.
Then, in the afternoon, they are on an insulin drip because the glycemic readings have gone back to 20 mmol/L.
Then, the cycle repeats, and the patient lives in the hospital like a hospital curtain with baskets of medicines next to the patient's bed.
Diabetes type 2 is reversible, curable, and preventable.
— but when I reiterate this, textbook experts, conveyor belts, and puppets of the medical system insult me.
Nobody wants to say this because a patient cured is a customer lost.
