@agricontract If they’d just put in some transition arrangements for elderly folk and maybe put the limit up a bit higher, they could have the full 40% rate for everyone else. It’s still advantageous to shelter wealth in farmland which is what has pushed up land values and caused this mess.

@EdwdPrice @AnnaLongthorp I agree entirely. Some form of transition, a higher threshold based on analysis of accurate data and/or applying tax only when farmland is sold and then charge the full rate on the rest as it’s still advantageous to those trying to shelter wealth.

@TWBFarms @UKLabour No I’m with them on that one. We’re farmers and understand fully what’s involved but we were driven mad by our neighbours forklift’s reversing beeper at all hours. Until he disconnected it. I’m sure H&S would have a fit but there needs to be a way of turning them off.

@FlindtTowers That’s amazing. Right on the cusp of mechanisation - still with binders and a threshing drum - we had our first combine in the village that year but at four years old I remember watching the drum go up the road too! Fabulous (and valuable) record.
