If you want to know what to do IF you find someone suddenly bleeding around you like this, here are 6Steps to save this person’s life. Please read and repost this thread to help educate someone:

1. DO NOT PANIC.
That’s very crucial. It looks scary but panicking won’t help you or the person bleeding.

2. TIME IS VERY CRUCIAL.
When someone is bleeding very much and very fast, like in this video;
TIME 🕰️ is crucial. This person can bleed to death in less than 1 hour IF the right things are NOT done swiftly, quickly and efficiently immediately. That’s NOT the time to be videoing them for IG or Snapchat, and it’s surely NOT the time for stupid noise/argument. This person is dying! They could be dead in an hour. Get to work! Do something straightaway.

3. DO NOT BRING OUT PHONE TO RECORD THEM FIRST.
When someone is bleeding this much and this fast, bringing out a phone to record for social media is complete insanity. If the first thing that occurs to you in a medical emergency is to bring out your phone - rather than save the person’s life- you are an absolute moron. I had to dedicate one whole point just to restate this again.

4. SIT THE PERSON DOWN AND GET A CLEAN PIECE OF CLOTH.
The first thing you do is sit the person up on the floor/chair, to calm them down. Tell the person to sit down- not running around - which may be making them bleed more. Once they are sat down, immediately tie a clean piece of cloth tightly around the site of the bleeding/cut. Then you apply very firm pressure over that bleeding point. Don’t tie the cloth too loose (or they will continue bleeding) and don’t tie it too tightly (or you will cut off blood supply to the rest of the limb which may lead to paralysis, death and amputation of that limb).

5. FIRST OF ALL, CALL AN AMBULANCE (OR UBER OR TAXI) immediately. NOT THE POLICE.
Once you secure the bleeding (or while someone else is securing the bleeding, if you are two or more at the scene), immediately call an ambulance for emergency professional medical assistance.

If you are in Lagos, you can call 767 or 112. You could also call any of these numbers 08022887777, 08022883678, 08022887788, 01-7413744, 01-7930490, 01-7639939. These numbers are for the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

If you are in Ogun State, you can call 777 or 112.

If you are anywhere else in Nigeria, you can call the national emergency toll-free lines 112 and 08112000033 which are available for 24 hours to activate the nearest ambulance point.

However being in Nigeria, getting an ambulance may be difficult or impossible- so if you call those numbers and can’t get through- pls simply get Uber or Taxi. The most important thing when someone is bleeding heavily is to control the bleeding and get the person to a hospital asap.

6. AFTER you get the person to hospital and the person is being attended to by the doctors, THEN you can call the police to report the situation.

Always remember that the priority is always to save the person’s life FIRST. Do NOT call the police before calling an ambulance or taxi to take the person to the hospital. NEVER make that mistake- especially if you live in nigeria- where the police in most cases will either not show up at all or if they do, they will only add to your problems and not be of any meaningful benefit to the situation.

The only exception to this advice if you live in nigeria is if a police station is nearby and you can quickly report with the hope the police will be sensible enough to immediately transport the person to hospital FIRST for treatment before they start asking foolish questions or doing foolish paperwork at the expense of a clearly dying person.

In conclusion,
If you find yourself in this situation:
Sit them up, calm them down, don’t panic yourself and get them not to panic too, get a clean cloth to tie around the bleeding, apply firm pressure, call an ambulance or taxi and get them to the hospital.

If you do this right;
You will save the person’s life.
