In Nigeria it’s worse

If you ask a surgeon in the UK what he does for a living, he won’t say, “I’m a doctor.”

He’ll say, “I’m a surgeon.”
Neuro. Ortho. Cardiothoracic. Whatever his lane is.

Why?

Because he knows his specialty matters. If he just says “doctor,” you won’t know which doctor, and you might take him as just any doctor.

So why would anyone ask me what I do and I say, “I’m a doctor”?

Never!!!

I say it clearly and proudly: I’m a musculoskeletal physiotherapist.

Because I’m Damn proud of it.
