We are participating in the East Africa Public Relations Week activities in Arusha, Tanzania September 23-28, 2024.
The East Africa Public Relations Week has brought together Public Relations professionals/practitioners across the East African region. Six countries including Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar are represented at the East Africa Public Relations Week engagements ongoing in Arusha, Tanzania. The symposium is guided by the theme, "United in Purpose, Bound by Destiny. Harnessing the Power of Public Relations in East Africa’s Collective Journey."
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is leveraging this opportunity to further engage stakeholders in Public Relations, Communication and Media industry, to raise awareness about our “UCU excellence” and available academic programmes, especially at the postgraduate level. We are represented by Mrs. Harriet Adong Atuyambe, the Director of Communication and Public Relations.
A highlight of questions and sub themes guiding the generation and sharing of knowledge at the ongoing East Africa Public Relations Week include;
1.What is your personal brand (it all starts with you)?
2.What is your organizational brand (The need to develop, grow and protect our organizational brands together)?
3.What do we want other people to know us for (personal and organizational level)?
4. The use of AI to support Communication and Public Relations.
5. Technology in Public Relations.
6. The need for multidisciplinary training for Communication and Public Relations professionals.
7. Science Communication among others.
The Deputy Minister for Information, Communication and Technology of Tanzania, Hon. Engineer Mary Prisca Muhandi, graced the event as Chief Guest. She noted that Communication is a catalyst for positive social change. “Let us all embrace and leverage this opportunity to further create and plan to nurture partnerships and networking. We must continue utilizing Public Relations to influence positive change and enforce development in our communities and serve,” Hon. Eng. Muhandi said.
Other institutions represented at the ongoing engagements include; Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Uganda National Oil Company, Uganda Electoral Commission, East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline, Stanbic Bank Uganda, The AIDS Support Organization, Uganda Bureau of Statistics and the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda among others.
