Obsession (2025) dir. Curry Barker 1.5/5
Dull, derivate, dumb. No sense of narrative time, pacing is off, and it's not scary. It's weird, and there are a couple of funny moments, but it looks and feels as low budget and amateur as it is.
People often ask the question ‘When did things start to go wrong?’
It’s the tattoos. That’s when it started to go wrong. Not just the police, generally.
The public doesn't want police officers to be "Unapologetically themselves at work"...especially when they are TQ+ activists..
Btw, this is 'Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary'...the force that handcuffed dying teen Henry Nowak as he pleaded ‘I can’t breathe’."
I know I mention this a lot, and I have lots of friends and family who have tattoos so I’m not saying it’s everybody, but the associations of tattoos with low self esteem, mental health problems, poor decision making etc are well known.
There was good reason for disapproval.

ONS has just released a cluster of statistics that fit together into one grim picture.
Britain has a worklessness problem, a youth inactivity problem, a birth-rate problem, and a fiscal problem.
All at once. 🧵👇
In an era where movies come with trigger warnings for the maiden aunt in all of us, if film and game producers were actually worried about harm, why do they continue to make things that ‘contain flashing light sequences’ when they know it can trigger epileptic fits?
This is the difference this Labour government is making.
Kids starting the day full and ready to learn, no matter their background.
An achievement all Labour MPs can be proud of- and opposed by the Conservatives and Reform.
@stuarthammond14 For exactly the same reason you don’t :)
We spend almost all of our temperature between 5 and 20.
Fahrenheit offers more description for our general weather and makes it even more obvious when we step outside it.
Phew what a scorcher is just better at 80F.
Celsius is obviously the superior system for science - but for every day UK weather, Fahrenheit makes much more sense. 0 is very very cold, 100 is very hot, normal is around 60.
This is not the first time Starmer has shamelessly used a young person's murder to fend off legitimate Qs from opponents. Recall his opportunism in the Chamber, when he told off Sunak for an accurate observation about Labour's muddled position on gender, because Brianna Ghey's mother was watching
You had a Shadow Chancellor brandishing the book of a man responsible for at least 50 million dead.
I’m glad I got to hear and reject him. We should be able to hear and reject Restore too.
@fharris2011 That’s a generous description given that in the video the arresting officer couldn’t care less, ignores the repeated statement of being stabbed.
Nothing confusing. Just didn’t care.
People shouting 'ban the kirpan'
I disagree
You could kill someone with a brick - do we ban DIY?
You could kill someone with a stiletto heel - do we ban high heels?
You could kill someone with a branch - do we cut down all the trees?
You could kill someone with a cast iron frying pan...........
The object is not the problem - people are
Education
Respect
Discipline
Deterrent
That's what we need
@Madz_Grant Everything goes back to Derrida. Reality exists only in the framework of words used to define it. They must control the language to define truth.
What change are you going to make?
- I'm in the business of change.
What change is that?
- I'm setting out a clear plan for change.
What's one change that you plan to do?
- Let's not make assumptions of what I'm going to do.
"It's a sort of weird conversation!”
@BethRigby pushes Andy Burnham on his ambitions to be the next leader of the Labour Party as he dodges questions on whether he would serve in Keir Starmer’s cabinet

In this footage you can even see two Ukrainian drones flying in formation over the oil terminal in Saint Petersburg, Russia, with one dive-bombing into the oil terminal.
