I’m Emeka Pascal Ogah, but most people in the Web3 and legal space know me as “CORTÉZ.”
My journey began in the courtroom, surrounded by laws that defined boundaries but I soon became fascinated by a new kind of system: one that redefined boundaries altogether. That’s how I discovered blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi) a space where innovation challenges regulation, and where the future of compliance is being rewritten in real time.
As a lawyer, I’ve always been driven by curiosity the kind that asks:
“What happens when trust moves from institutions to code?”
“How do we build systems that are transparent, yet legally sound?”
Those questions led me into Web3 governance, digital asset regulation, and DeFi compliance, where I now focus on helping organizations navigate the evolving intersection of law, technology, and ethics.
My mission is simple:
To help build a trustworthy decentralized future, where innovation thrives responsibly and the law evolves with technology, not against it.
Areas I’m passionate about:
⚖️ Blockchain & DeFi Regulation
🔐 Smart Contract Compliance & Auditing
💠 Web3 Governance & Policy Development
🌍 Digital Rights & Emerging Market Regulations
Let’s connect if you’re building or advising in the Web3 legal, compliance, or DeFi ecosystem I’m always open to meaningful collaborations and knowledge exchange.
From today, I'd be dropping nuggets on Legal compliance and its marriage with Web 3 and Defi based on my little daily reading and research on X here.
