All the oceans you see are potential ports. So what is happening with Ibom? Look at the Port Harcourt terminal started by Shagari—it’s still not functioning as it should, just like the Warri and Calabar ports. There is a deliberate effort to keep these ports and the economy from opening up.

Are you aware that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is the only port authority in the world with an office and a guest house in London for managing a port in Nigeria? Can you believe that?
The reason for ongoing inefficiency is that some people benefit from it.

Nigeria is fortunate to have ports all over the country, but they are deliberately kept underutilized to maintain the status quo. This prevents the economy from opening up, where people’s talent and hard work could create opportunities, leaving nothing for those who thrive on confusion.

For instance, it takes three months to clear goods at Nigerian ports, whereas it takes only two days in Cotonou (Togo), and similarly in Ghana and Ivory Coast. I have traveled to Singapore and other countries specifically to study their ports and understand what works for them.

Twenty years ago, the busiest port in terms of operations was Singapore. Today, ports like Shanghai and Rotterdam have risen to prominence. These things change quickly.

We are going to dismantle this confusion and get the country to work. It’s not rocket science—managing ports is not difficult. I will bring in the private sector to build and manage ports in collaboration with the government, as is the practice worldwide. There is no reason Nigeria should not be exporting at least N300 billion worth of products.

14.Most of our industries and factories in Kano,Kaduna and Jos have since closed down when our kinsmen were in power.

15.Our Farmers in rural areas are still farming with hoes for the whole period our kinsmen have been in power.The groundnut and cotton pyramids and fields disappeared long when our kinsmen were at the helm.

16.All the spare parts,building materials and pharmaceutical stores in the north are private businesses owned by people from other regions whom were not in anyway backed,funded or supported by any Government.

17.When our Kinsmen were in power,we attributed our poverty and insecurity to God and to our Sins;When our Kinsmen are out of power,we attribute our sufferings to the King.

Northern leaders must take lessons from the recent violent uprising in the region.The President must be held to account,but he is not the Problem or the Solution to the Problem.The Governors,political,Business,religious,traditional leaders and the intellectuals of the region must converge and urgently come out with an implementable master plan to tackle the decades of endemic poverty and destitution,Illiteracy,Chronic underdevelopment,abject neglect,religious extremism and terrorism that has demonised the region and impoverished its people.Guns and tanks can suppress the flame but not extinguish the fire.The monster in our homes was not created in a day.The North should look at the mirror and not the telescope.We have the cattle to build our wealth,we shouldn’t be looking for a scapegoat.

I attended a virtual meeting called by the Inspector General of Police to discuss the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests scheduled to commence on August 1.

The meeting also had in attendance the Force PRO, Falana SAN, Adegboruwa SAN and some other civil society leaders and activists.

The meeting was held this afternoon and had about 16 attendees. The meeting was convened by the IGP in response to the letter by Mr Adegboruwa to the IGP on behalf of the Take It Back Movement (TIB).

It became necessary to invite other groups and individuals for a broader discussion.

When I was invited to speak, I asked the IGP specifically if he was aware of the trending video in circulation showing some thugs in Lagos threatening to unleash violence on protesters and warning people not to join the protest?

I also asked him if he will direct the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to arrest the said thugs to serve as a deterrent to those who are planning to cause unrest. The IGP, sadly, did not address this particular question, despite that he was reminded of my question by other participants.

The IGP also advised (or should I say took the position) that the protests should be confined to specific locations).

This made me to ask the IGP directly if the police will disrupt any protest that is held outside the locations that have been communicated to him; given his advice that protesters should not embark on marches or rallies but should be restricted to identified venues.

The IGP responded to me that there is no plan to disrupt rallies on the road or any protest held outside the ‘designated’ venues.

However, he further indicated that the police cannot guarantee the security of protesters who are not confined to the locations that have been communicated to him or CPs in the various States.

My final contribution was to remind the IGP to be mindful of the fact that there have been IGPs before him, and that he should be thinking about legacy and his place in history, and that if this protest is peaceful, history will remember him for his role, but that if anyone is killed by the police, it will also be recorded for him as his legacy.

My deductions are:

1. The IGP assured that security will be provided to protesters who are gathered at the venues that have been communicated to the IGP and CPs.

2. The police has not taken threats made by government sponsored thugs against peaceful protesters seriously.

3. The police has accepted that there is nothing that can stop the protest from taking place.

4. The IGP said that the military will not be deployed during the protests, but that they may be invited if there’s violence that the police cannot control.

5. I am encouraging people to write to the CPs in the various States and notify them of the places they want to converge.

6. Rallies and marches should be done in a coordinated manner.

History will vindicate the just.

The impression that Nigerians or foreigners are planning to burn the nation is fiction. There's a court judgement that the police cannot stop a protest on the apprehension of violence. I hear Pointus Pilate the Mass Murderer is touting a laundry llist of properties that were allegedly destroyed by #EndSARS protesters.

I can now say this openly:

I was in the middle of my campaign for the Lagos East Senatorial District Bye-election when the protests broke out.

I had to keep going during the protests, holding meetings and such. On one of those movements, I went to Ikorodu and had to go on foot from Itowolo to Ogolonto junction, where the protesters had a PA system and a makeshift stage.

I passed amongst them and even though I tried to disguise, I was recognised by some of the youths and asked to address them, which I did briefly before I went in my way.

Yes, they were loud and vociferous about government putting a stop to the harassment and murders by @PokiceNG officers, BUT they were VERY PEACEFUL.

On my birthday, I went to see a prominent Oyo State politician in company of another Lagos politician and some of my aides in Ìbàdàn. We encountered protesters, walking and biking from New Garage, through challenge to Avoid and there was no violence. Noise, yes, but no violence

On our return to Lagos, we had to abandon the car at Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, and WALK through the protesters, who were camped at the Lateef Jakande Road/Awolowo Way Junction. Again, noise, but no violence.

The violence started when thugs suddenly started showing up in BRT Buses that were hitherto unavailable to Lagos taxpayers for transport.

It is a matter of public record that an APC politician was recorded on video SHOOTING into a crowd of protesters, killing two and injuring several, at Abule Egba.

The young journalist that captured and posted the video was later arrested and murdered in detention by @PoliceNG. They will deny it, and foolishly demand evidence of their crime, but the fact remains that the last time he was seen alive, he was in their custody.

Several men of the @PoliceNG were caught on camera DURING the protests, SHOOTING, Killing and brutalising protesters and non-protesters alike.

Just as @jidesanwoolu
DENIED giving the order to murder protesters singing the National Anthem and waving the flag of Nigeria at the #LekkiTollGateMassacre and was later EXPOSED as a LIAR by @HQNigerianArmy officers testifying at the Official Inquiry, I fully expect him to issue pompous, blustering denials about sponsoring the violence that led up to that massacre on #20102020.

The internet is awash with videos of some of the incidents I have described above and more, and I would appreciate it if Nigerians posted those videos in the comment section.
